YOU MA Y NOT:
• First, print out the watermelon seed cards on card stock, cut them
out and shuffle them. Also print and laminate the counting mat.
• Then place them face down and let your child draw a card and place
it on the counting mat (on the open square).
• Your child then counts the seeds in the picture, and counts out the
same number of seeds for their watermelon.
• Then can then write the number with a dry erase marker on the mat
where it says, “write it.”
• Then, erase the number, draw a new card and count again!
If you don’t have actual watermelon seeds, you can play the same way,
but have kids draw seeds onto the watermelon with a dry erase
marker.
Finally, there are also number cards, so you can play a matching or
memory game with the watermelon counting cards if you don’t want to
use the counting mat.
To play, simply print and cut out all the cards, shuffle, and place face
down in an array on the table. Then take turns looking for matches.
If you find a match, keep the cards. After all matches have been found,
the payer with the most matches wins!
Write it!
