Significance of the Study

High blood pressure is the No. 1 contributing factor for global death, causing strokes,

heart attacks, and other cardiovascular complications with 10 million people dying each year

from conditions related to hypertension not only here in our country, Philippines but on the entire

world. Gooseberry plant or Tultullaya is not given much attention and importance because of the

lack of knowledge on its health benefits and its chemical substances. In this study, the researcher

aims to find a useful purpose of this plant. The said plant can be a good source of effective

capsule for hypertension or high blood pressure. Some commercial medicine for hypertension

aside from being expensive, others may have side effects to our body because of the chemicals

that was used in the production of the medicines thus it may cause some complications. Since

Gooseberry or what we call Tultullaya is organic and comparably more affordable and

environment-friendly and having no artificial chemicals added does not make any bad side

effects to health. Furthermore, since the plant is abundant and can be seen in the neighborhood or

in the field, therefore the availability of the source is not a problem. Moreover, since Gooseberry

of Tultullaya is a kind of weed that will be used in making Anti-hypertensive capsule, it will be

beneficial to the farmers or anyone in the locality for it will lessen the amount of weeds and

increase the yields in their crops.
