AIBO, the Robotic Dog

Do you think AIBO could replace a real dog? Why or why not?

1. I think one day all dogs will eventually get replaced with AI dogs due to extinction, the
environment, etc., but I don’t think it will be as sustainable, it might have some features a real
dog has but it will never be the same or as great, therefore I would like to say they won't get
replaced but they probably will.

Do you believe AIBO is able to learn? Why or why not? How is its learning different from yours?

2. I think AIBO is capable of learning things but to a certain extent, like humans, can learn so many
complex things because they aren't programmed to learn certain things like how AIBO was.

Do you believe AIBO has emotions? Why or why not? How are its emotions different from yours?

3. Just like the last question, I think AIBO does have emotions but not very complex emotions like
humans. AIBO can feel happy, sad, angry, etc., but won't feel emotions like euphoria, grief, etc.,
like how humans feel.

Are there any ethical problems with AI?

It’s hard to find some ethical problems with AI animals but some you can assume are the effects it has
on the food chain. If there isn’t a sustainable food chain, that can affect other animals as well, I doubt
real animals would want to eat robotic animals.

1. Perseverance Rover, the robot that NASA launched into space and onto Mars to discover more
information about the planet back in July 2020 which landed in February 2021.

2. Articulated Robots, most companies, especially foreign companies will use robots for products
and shipping, the articulated robots manage material handling and shipping.

3. Amazon Astro, amazon released a robot named Astro that is essentially an Alexa on wheels, you
can remotely control its movements, and talk and listen with its speakers and microphones, its
like a home security robot.

 4. Marty the robot, you can find Marty in grocery stores, Marty is in charge of reporting spills,
debris, and other potential hazards that can affect employees at the store. Marty also has googly
eyes.

5. Uber eats robot, Uber eats has a robot that literally delivers food to customers, so people don’t
have to drive and deliver the food, in 2021 the company made over 10,000 deliveries with
robots. Other companies also use robots to deliver food as well.
