What the Seahawks have done

in free agency so far
Quandre Diggs and more key
players are back!
The Seahawks have had quite the eventful
offseason that many weren’t expecting. It
started with the unexpected trade of
Russell Wilson on March 8th. Then the
release of Bobby Wagner on the same day.
Many analysts and pundits expected the
team to now blow everything up. However,
they were very wrong.

The Seahawks were rumored just about a

week ago that they were shopping star
receivers D.K Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
However, ever since that rumor first came
out just after the Russell Wilson trade there
hasn’t been a peep since regarding the two
receivers.
After all the trade rumors had passed away
on any good player remaining on the
Seahawks the Seahawks got to work two
days before the start of free agency. To
start out they signed pro bowl safety
Quandre Diggs to a 3 year 40 million
extension and signed defensive tackle
Bryan Mone to a 2 year 9 million
extension. Later that Monday morning the
Seahawks also signed Sidney Jones to a 1
year 3.6 million deal. You would’ve
thought after a couple hours had passed
since those extensions were done that the
Seahawks were finished for the day.
However, I hate to play spoiler alert, but
they weren’t. The Seahawks yesterday
afternoon signed former University of
Washington tight end Will Dissly to a 3
year 24 million extension.
If these extensions had anything to prove
about the Seahawks yesterday the only
thing they proved is that this is a partial
rebuild.
What a run it was for quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner in Seattle! It was an amazing ten
years! Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner will certainly be missed every homegame at Lumen Field this fall.

March 8th, 2022 will always be a day to
forget for Seahawks fans. It marked the end
of an incredible journey that started with a
5’ 11’’ quarterback just trying to prove
himself in the NFL and a linebacker deemed
too small to play his position.
The Seahawks agreed to trade star
quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver
Broncos for two first-round selections in the
2022 and 2023 drafts. Two second-round
selections in 2022 and 2023. A fifth-round
selection in 2022 and tight end Noah Fant
defensive lineman Shelby Harris and
quarterback Drew Lock.
What the Seahawks got in return was quite
the haul, but will it indeed replace the
production Russell Wilson had while
playing with the Seahawks? We will find
out in a couple years as to who won this
trade but just by looking at the trade itself
the Seahawks clearly won since they got a
huge haul for a quarterback who likely is
passed his prime and is now on the decline.
Not only did the Seahawks trade star
quarterback Russell Wilson to the Broncos
on March 8th, 2022 but many hours later
that day the Seahawks also informed star
linebacker Bobby Wagner that he was
being released from the team.
This move was quite unexpected out of all
things because one he seemed happy
playing for the Seahawks so clearly there
was no clear sign he was going to be
released soon. Two he was the leader of
the defense and really set the tone after the
downfall of the Legion of Boom. The third
and final reason this move was quite
unexpected was the fact that Bobby
Wagner last season had set a record for
himself in total tackles.
The decision to release Bobby Wagner
also might’ve been made at the last minute
because shortly after the unexpected
release had happened Bobby Wagner
basically came out and said that he never
got a warning he was getting released.

Quandre Diggs will be with the Seahawks for three more

seasons after the extension he signed Monday morning!
