Question:

How can nurses ensure that older people are treated with respect and dignity whist being cared for in
hospital or in the community?

- Caring is intended to promote health. People are living longer lives around the world, but in
many cases, there is no support system in place to care for the elderly, creating major challenges
in ensuring their health and well-being. Globally, the proportion of elderly people is expected to
rise, necessitating the use of skilled healthcare professionals to care for them. Because of
increasingly effective and technological care around the world, there is a risk that older people,
as suffering and vulnerable human beings, will be forgotten. To meet older people's care needs
and ensure quality healthcare, a caring culture and relationship should be prioritized and
developed to promote participation, well-being, and dignity. It is critical that research focusing
on universal health coverage identifies the benefits of increased investment in service quality.
