ANALOGY

Concept :
We find a number of natural and man-made objects in our surroundings. These objects
have different properties. Many a times. the two different objects show similarity in their one
or more properties. On the basis of this analogy, a relationship is developed between them.
In this topic, three terms and a question mark are given. Out of these, two terms show
some analogy (it is indicated by the sign : ). Students have to find out the term which show the
similar analogy with the third term.
While solving such questions, we should follow the steps given below :
(1) Concentrate upon the two terms correlated by the sign : :
(2) Find out in what way the first two terms are related to each other.
(3) Now concentrate upon the remaining term.
(4) By selecting each alternative, check whether it is related in the similar way as the other
two terms are related or not.

Analog -1 1 : Words
Introduction : In this subtopic, three terms in the form of words are given. The words may
indicate the relationship of the kind; synonym / antonym; animal and its body parts, its properties:
article and its uses; rivers, mountains, months, seasons, various professions, games, anniversa-
ries, festivals, geographical places, renowned personalities, etc.

Tips : Command over the vocabulary and general knowledge helps in solving these
questions.
