Main: 3.2.1 Understand the main idea of
simple longer texts
Pre-lesson: Teacher asks pupils if they keep a diary and in what
form (written or digital). Pupils share their thoughts.
Lesson delivery:
1. Pupils refer to page 28 Activity 1. Then, pupils refer to the dairy
in pages 22-23.
2. Pupils read the questions and answer the questions orally in the
class.
3. Pupils read Gemma’s Diary. Teacher asks pupils some questions
such as Where is the girl? What is she doing? Are diaries formal
or informal? How do you know? Pupil conduct a think-pair-share
to discuss the questions.
4. Pupils refer to Activity 3. Pupils read the sentences and write
how Gemma writes it. Pupils are given some time answer by
discussing. Teacher guides pupils with clues.
5. Teacher asks pupils if anything in the diary was also true for
them. Pupils share their thoughts.
Post-lesson: Pupils share with their friends what they did
yesterday.

and find sentences with similar meanings.
