i. We blame someone else for our mistakes.


ii. Making a mistake impacts our personal relations as well as our jobs. At workplace, it may result in
financial loss or even termination. This undoubtedly causes upheaval and stress.
iii. By the law of attraction, we make the same mistake over and over again, until the consequences hurt
so much that we finally learn from it.
iv. By owning up to the mistake and evaluating the errors to come up with better strategies we can
magically transform it into a blessing.
v. Most people try to avoid making mistakes/Some people experience great degrees of
apprehension and anxiety about committing mistakes /paralyzes our decision-making skill/Keeps
us imprisoned in the very narrow comfort zone of the known.

V. Answer ANY TWO of the following questions in 30- 40 words each:( 2X2= 4Marks)

a) Life is full of challenges …… decisions have to be made …….. depends our future life and success...
one day the poet comes to a bifurcation. .......... faces a dilemma .........out of the two
roads ........decides to take the second road …….less trodden so far………….. thinks some day he will
come back and walk on the first road ……. doubtful to do so …… steps once taken cannot be
retracted…. the choice the poet made several years ago ….. has made him what he is today. ………
poet suggests to make decisions wisely .......face the consequences.

b) Bismillah khan had a great regard for Indian music .He considered the Hindustani music to be its
richest heritage. He did not want the children to cut off their bond from this grand tradition. He wanted
the tradition of the Indian music to pass on from generation to generation . That is why he advised the
people of India to teach Hindustani music to their children and feel proud, which fascinated even the
people of the west.

c) The stranger who noticed the lost child was a kind – hearted man. He could feel the agony of the lost
child. He lifted him up in his arms. He tried to distract his attention by offering a ride on the roundabout
and making him hear the music of the snake charmer. He offered him to buy sweets and balloons but
the child cried inconsolably.

The stranger failed in his attempts to soothe the child. The child had lost interest in the things that he
wanted earlier because he was panic stricken on being separated from his parents. All he wanted was
to get united with them.

VI. Answer ANY one of the following in 40-50 words:(1X3= 3Marks)


a) The County inspector was a kind -hearted man. He was trained to rectify errors in the functioning of
the system installed in the mechanical teachers. Instead of finding faults with Margie, he gave her
an apple and told her mother that if Margie was not performing well in geography, it was not her
fault, but the fault of the mechanical teacher. He aligned the speed of the geography sector keeping
in mind the level of the girl.
b) The things in the fair fascinated the child. He was attracted towards many things in the fair but he
did not insist his parents buy any of them. He followed his parents in the fair like an obedient child.
Though he longed for the things, yet he did not express his desire before his parents because he
knew that his parents would not allow him to take it.

VII. Answer ANY ONE of the following in 100- 120 words:(1X4= 4 Marks)
a. Ustad Bismillah Khan was a Shehnai master of national and international fame. He brought
Shehnai to the classical stage. He practiced for hours and worked very hard to attain
perfection. His melodious music made him the first Indian to greet the independent India.
Bismillah Khan was exceedingly fond of Benaras and Dumraon. According to him, they were
the most wonderful towns of the world for him. A student of his once wanted him to head a
shehnai school in the USA and promised to recreate the atmosphere of Banaras, but Bismillah
Khan asked if they would be able to transport River Ganga as well. Whenever, he was in a
foreign country, he yearned for Hindustan. In Mumbai also he thought of only Benares and the
holy Ganga. On receiving highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna , he said that “Teach your
children music, this is Hindustan’s richest tradition; even the west is now coming to learn
music.”

b. The child had come to the fair with his parents to have fun and enjoy the festive spirits like
others. Although he wanted to have many things at the fair, he knew he could not have them
because his parents disliked those things. Although he was denied everything that he asked
for, his love for them did not lessen. He was amazed by the beauty of nature and enjoyed it in
his innocent ways.
When the child realized that he had been separated from his parents, he panicked. Tears rolled
down his cheeks and his face was full of fear. His yellow turban got untied, his clothes became
muddy. He ran towards the shrine to look for his parents, which was thickly crowded. Before he
could be trampled under their feet, a kind man picked him up in his arms. The little boy refused
to accept even those things that he had wanted a while ago. Everything else lost value in his
eyes in the absence of his parents. His laughter and happiness was replaced by insecurity and
fear.
