Breif History and Features of 4th and 5th Generation of Computer

Fourth Generation Of Computer: Microprocessors (1971– 1991)

Fourth Generation of Computers 1971 up to 1991. These

computers operated by Very large Scale Integrated (VLSI)
circuits were assembled on one chip that's suitable to suit
on a desktop. It could decipher billions of codes and solve
problems per second and almost everyone could afford it. In
1971 Intel 4004 chips were developed which was located to
any or all the components of the pc. furthermore the fundamental programing language that
was created for this machine was developed by In 1981, IBM releases a private computer. It
becomes a top seller and still trades today. As day goes by This Generation of computer
became more powerful, reliable, and affordable. It gave rise to personal Computer (PC)
development of the GUIs, keyboard, mouse and other hand handled devices.. during this
generation, sharing , real time networks, distributed OS were used. All the high-level
languages like, JAVA, Phyton , C, C++ were used in this period..

Features of 4th Generation of Computer

● VLSI technology used

● Very cheap
● Portable and reliable
● Use of PCs
● Very small size
● Pipeline processing
● No AC required
● Concept of internet was introduced
● Great developments in the fields of networks
● Computers became easily available
Fifth Generation Of Computer: Artificial Intelligence (1991— Present)

In the fifth generation "Very Large Scale Integration" became (Ultra Large Scale
Integration), arising within the production of microprocessor chips carrying ten million
electronic components. The fifth generation of the computer is established on AI and still in
development.AI is an emerging field in computing , which defines the means and method of
creating computers think like human beings. All the high-level languages like C and C++,
Java, .Net etc., are used in this generation. The target of this generation is to expand the
devices which could answer natural language input and are eligible of knowledge and self-
organization.

Features of 5th Generation of Computer

● ULSI technology
● Development of true artificial intelligence
● Development of Natural language processing
● Advancement in Parallel Processing
● Advancement in Superconductor technology
● More user-friendly interfaces with multimedia features
● Availability of very powerful and compact computers at cheaper
rates
● Some computer types of this generation are −
Examples of 5th Generation Of Computer
● Desktop
● Laptop
● NoteBook
● UltraBook
● ChromeBook
