BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF TOPIC:-
q Introduction:-Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a
blood disorder characterized by a decrease in the number of
platelets in the blood.

Meaning of
“Thrombocytopenic”
“Idiopathic”
“Purpura”

TYPES
• Acute thrombocytopenic purpura:-  This usually affects
young children, ages 2 to 6 years old. 
• Chronic thrombocytopenic purpura. The onset of the disorder
can happen at any age, and the symptoms can last a minimum of
6 months, several years, or a lifetime. 

CAUSES
• Infections, typically viral infections, including the
viruses that cause chicken pox, hepatitis C, and AIDS,
can prompt antibodies that cross-react with platelets.
• Medication Can cause an allergy that cross react with
platelets
• Pregnancy
• Immuno disorder

• Tourniquet Test :-positive
• CT

TREATEMENT
• In children, ITP usually resolves without any treatment.
Adults commonly need treatment with medication for
bleeding. Rarely the spleen may need to be removed.
• Drugs that boost platelet production
• Immune globulin.
• Others drug
• Surgery
