 There are various pieces of equipment you will need to have or have access to
during the course. The majority of this will be provided for in school but there is
some which you will want to be able to use at home as you will be required to com-
plete 3-4 hours at home each week. A small carry box is also useful too to store all
equipment.
Below is an essential and useful list of equipment and resources that you may wish
to begin collecting over the summer break. Some of this can be expensive so make
sure you are serious about your commitment to this subject area!

To broaden your knowledge of fashion and textiles in general and also fashion
designers and current trends it would be a good to begin buying and reading Vogue
or other fashion magazines regularly.

There are a massive amount of books that might be useful to over the course but a
few you might like to have a look at are;

 Art of manipulating fabric - Collette Wolff

Create a brainstorm and an mood/image board based one
on the following titles
 Magnification
 Fragile
 Geometry
 Repetition
 Make two visits to places of your choice and take photographs of things which could
be relevant to your chosen title. Suggestions of places you could visit are…
 Galleries
 Exhibitions - V&A
 Museums - Natural History Museum
 Wildlife park - Hamerton Wildlife Park is close
 Gardens
 Local environments etc

Your write up and photographs MUST be printed out and enough to cover A3 sheets
of paper

Complete at least 6 observational drawings from objects that you think could be
relevant your choose title. Some suggestions are…
 Animals/reptiles/butterflies/insects
 Plants /flowers
 Buildings/windows/doors/openings
 Environments
 People
 Objects

These could be completed on your visit or from your photographs

You also need to bring in an old plain t shirt or find one in a charity shop for the first week
