If a job is contracted, this information is furnished in the job specification. GENERAL 2.1 Each line shall be classified by assigning a piping class to it, thus designating materials and piping components to be used. 2.2 The classification shall be based on pressure, material, service and corrosion allowance, 2.3 ‘The standard piping classes included into this book cover the commonly encountered conditions within refineries. Piping classes for low and high alloy steels, a listed in IBP3-30-3, have been prepared and are available upon request. STANDARD PIPING CLASSES 3.1 The classes are designated by three capital letters followed by a dash and a number. a.
