1. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that third world
countries are countries which is very poor and facing a lot of social issues and
problems.
However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that
the basis of classifying the country as first or third world is through basing to its GDP
and GNI.

2. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that “Third World”
is the only term that define those developing countries and “First World” for those
capitalist-industrialized nations.
However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that
these terms are already outdated and inappropriate, instead they are known now as
“Global North” for first world countries and “Global South” for third world countries.

3. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that globalization
help people to improve their socioeconomic status in the society. Especially for
those who lived in the rural areas to migrate in urban areas to find a stable job.
However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that it
is true that globalization really provide good opportunities to the people but along
with this good side of globalization it also gives people a lot of global problems like
environmental problems and political crisis.

1. How does First, Second and Third World hierarchy starts?
2. How these hierarchy levels affect the issue about racism and social inequality?
3. Elaborate more the concept about Global City.
