1. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that


The only meaning of first and third world countries is that they refer to countries
based on their richness or poorness
However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that
There is an original meaning of the first and third world countries on which they
refer to Western countries, and the rest of the world, respectively.
2. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that
There is no such thing as second world countries.
However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that
There were indeed second world countries, but the classification is not used today
prior on the end of Cold War, and they refer to the former Soviet Union and their
allies.
3. Before reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I thought that
Cities are only positively affected by the globalization.
However, reading the material/ understanding the lesson, I now think/ realize that
They are the most severely affected by global problems too.

1. How can the Philippines be a first-world country? When do you think we will be
one?
2. If the “global south and north” are our new global stratification or classification
system rather than the “first and third world”, how do you think it is different from
the latter considering that both are pointing distinctions which paves for racial
inequality?
3. What is the relationship between rural-urban differentiation and globalization?
