Undoubtedly, sports play an important role in building infrastructure. If a country hosts an international
sporting event, they need to satisfy a good infrastructure. So that they spend much money to improve, build
the best, up-to-date stadiums, roads, services, etc to have a successful event. Take the example of Qatar- the
host country of World Cup 2022. the country’s finance minister - Ali Shareef Al-Emadi said: “We are spending
close to $500m per week on capital projects” and more than 200B dollars will be spent in total by this
country in preparation for World Cup 2022.

It highly contributes to the developing nations’ economies. Sports represent a billion-dollar business,
moreover, the immensely positive impact sports have on local economies, mainly through tourism dollars.
For example, the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 was suggested to “bring an additional R$112.79 billion" to the
Brazilian economy, with indirect and induced effects being produced thereafter. In total, an additional R$
142.39 billion will flow into the country from 2010 to 2014.

Invigorates patriotism, nationalism, and unity.

Sports always bring a varied range of emotions, moreover, sports can buoy nationalistic pride and
patriotism. Nations define themselves by several methods such as a flag, a currency, an anthem, etc. On the
clothes of athletes have a flag of their nation. Before all football matches, players and spectators sing their
anthem together. Or in a competition, when an athlete wins, the flag of his nation will be pulled up, it will
attract the attention of people around the world. For example, at Rio Olympics 2016, Hoang Xuan Vinh claims
Vietnam's first-ever gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol. After 64 years complete in Olympic Games, this is
the first gold medal for Viet Nam, all citizens pride and happiness.
Furthermore, sports also provide a platform for people to come together and support their country.
Whenever, no gender, no region, people in their country are always willing to encourage and support the
nation. For instance, Vietnamese Football supporters are well known because of their enthusiasm. A report

In conclusion, sports develop a sense of unity and pride in the people, who watch them or play them. Karl
Marx has said that: “Apart from religion, sports is the only common thread that binds people together and
helps in developing a feeling of patriotism and unity that can counter regional factionalism and sinister design
of various separatist forces”
