Is it better to learn/receive your education in your mother

tongue?

The PROS:

Learning and receiving education in your mother tongue

immensely helps students to gain knowledge more easily.
According to UNESCO research, children learn better in their
native languages in primary school. As a result, the same might
be said about higher levels of education.

Also, learning in using their native tongue would help them

to be more confident in talking. Ultimately improving the way
they express themselves, their school performance and
socialization skills. Also, learning in their own mother tongue
would motivate them to proudly represent their culture and
heritage. Multilingual education that emphasizes the mother
tongue allows all students to fully participate in society. It
promotes respect and acceptance, as well as the preservation of
the rich traditional and cultural history found in every
language. by encouraging children to be confident, accepting,
and excited about their cultural heritage as lifelong learners.

The CONS:

There are drawbacks to students learning and absorbing

information entirely in their native tongue. To begin, this
would prohibit them from being fluent English speakers which is
the universal language. It is the world's most widely spoken
second language.

As a result of not being knowledgeable of the English

language, they will be unable to converse readily with other
people around the world. When you learn English at school, you
will make friends with individuals from all over the world who
speak English as their first language. Also, not knowing how to
speak English would be a hindrance when it’s time to be part of
the workforce that involves the English language. Knowing
English improves your chances of landing a decent job in a
global organization in your native country or overseas. Learning
English is crucial for socializing, leisure, and employment
since it is the international language. In addition, English is
the top language when it comes to the internet. So, knowing this
language would aid people when it comes to entertainment, news
and communicating online.

Should African nations ban skin whitening creams and similar

products in their countries?

The PROS:

Banning these products would be healthier for the citizen’s

physical health. Due to the fact that these products contain
unhealthy ingredients that can cause numerous complications.
This may cause liver and renal failure, as well as
hyperpigmentation, which is the formation of dark skin patches
on the area where the product is utilized. Hydroquinone also
increases the risk of skin cancer by inhibiting melanin
formation, which shields the skin from UV exposure (Davids,
2015).

Also, banning these products would promote being proud of

one’s self, assist in the removal of internalized inferiority
and shortage of self-acceptance. This would help people in
Africa to open their eyes and see that the skin they have is
beautiful. That no other products are necessary to be seen as
“beautiful”.

The CONS:

Banning these products might be detrimental to their mental

health. As much as we want to promote self love, sometimes, part
of us must be changed for us to accept ourselves. It’s sad to
say but this is reality. So, these may do more harm than good.
For example, plastic surgery may be seen as bad but it actually
helps. According to studies, people are happier with the body
part on which they had surgery. In the long run, it improves
their self-esteem, living standard, self-confidence, and
relationships with peers.

Some people just can’t love themselves just the way they
are. With that being said, banning these products may promote
self acceptance and being proud of their roots. However,
banning these products might also be detrimental to their mental
health.

Should violent video games be prohibited for children who are

aged 16 and below because if exposed too much to it, then they
may grow up being violent too?

The PROS:

​A child's hand should not contain video games, movies,

news, or any other material depicting violence. Exposing a child
to a violent game would have negative consequences. This
includes an inclination for violence, inappropriate sexual
material, explicit language, and the de-sensitization of
killing, among other things.

I believe that video games have a great significant impact

on children, but violent games are not among them. There are
several games for children. The Mario franchise, Sonic games,
and other Nintendo games are good examples. It would be
fantastic to introduce kids to lighthearted video games, movies,
and television shows. Which can teach children healthy values
and proper behavior. With that being said, kids shouldn’t be
exposed to any violence at all. This could encourage them to
imitate the images that they see on that screen. Which can lead
them to be violent, aggressive and disrespectful.

The CONS:

Violent games may be considered to be terrible but it has

its upsides too. Study from 2013 shows that in playing “shooter”
games it enhances an individual’s cognitive abilities. Research
says that it can develop better attention to detail, visual
processing skills, and abilities to mentally rotate objects. In
fact, these are found to be exclusive to “shooter” games only
and don't apply to puzzles or role playing games.

Also, these games promote social connectedness which

encourages kids to socialize with other people and make friends.
This could lessen the chances of a kid to have depression or
anxiety. Most of these “violent” games encourage people to be in
a team and communicate with each other. This can help kids to
improve working with other people which is extremely important
in the real world. According to a 2011 study, people who play
violent games that urge collaboration in order to win are much
more inclined to be helpful to others both online and offline.
When compared to non-violent games that do not inspire players
to work together as a team. The majority of "non-violent" games
are always single player games, meaning you can only play by
yourself. This does not encourage sociability or collaboration
with others. Which is crucial to any person growing up.
