PROJECT A07

Good evening colleagues and teacher, in this opportunity I will expose my project about the
country of Colombia, where I will mention about the fashion that is used in this country.

as we know, colombia is a country recognized for producing one of the best coffees in the
world, since it is the product that has the greatest influence on the economy of that country,
but it is definitely not the only thing that characterizes it.

Although it is not a subject for which Colombia stands out, impressively fashion is eight or five
percent of the economy of this country. That in itself is a high figure, but why is this?

Well, first we will mention the variations of fabrics we can find such as peach skin, linen and
untreated cotton finishes. That is to say, people are looking for fabrics with some added value
and this makes fashion in Colombia revolutionize to another concept.

this year, at the end of july, exactly 28th and 29th, colombiamoda and colombiatext will be
integrated after 2 years. These are the most outstanding fashion events in the coffee country.
This year a new concept is incorporated, which are the old prints, that is to say, clothes from
the seventies.

But what kind of shoes are the most used?

Well, boots and booties with medium and high heels will be injected, as well as moccasins with
thicker soles, which is a worldwide trend. But what will never go out of fashion in Colombia,
are the sneakers, they are the most used and sold garments in this country. Although this year
we are thinking of incorporating a futuristic concept to these, with translucent, transparent
and reflective materials.

And last but not least, the dress theme will take a back seat, as people are now looking for
stiffer clothes to showcase seventies-inspired silhouettes, such as bell-bottoms. In general,
people are looking for androgynous silhouettes, more practical clothes, but nowadays this is
being sought worldwide, not only specifically in Colombia.

What about accessories?

people in colombia have always preferred accessories of indigenous and peasant tradition.
Because in these accessories the culture is reflected and Colombians feel proud to wear these
accessories. They generally use from traditional materials such as gold, silver and bronze with
baths, to paper mache, acrylic and colored threads.

And to complete an outfit, what type of hairstyle do Colombians use the most?

Like the accessories, Colombians opt for traditional and typical hairstyles of this country. The
most used hairstyles are the thick braids, as it is said that they were used to keep the gold
nuggets that were extracted from the mines. It is also said that these braids were made
because most Colombians are of African-American descent, which causes them to be born
with thick and abundant hair. As you can see in the image, it is an example of the typical
Colombian braids.
Well, with all this we must remember that Colombia not only stands out for its coffee or its
beaches, but also for the fashion they handle, as they include two aspects, futuristic and
traditional.
