Part Two

1. ERP, or enterprise resource planning, is software designed to manage and integrate the functions of core
business processes like finance, HR, supply chain and inventory management in a single system.

Widely used in businesses of all sizes, ERP is considered a must-have for large enterprises and is increasingly
being deployed in growing small businesses. The complexity of the global economy and modern consumer
demands has made streamlining business processes and managing and optimizing data critical. ERP is typically
the foundation of these capabilities.

Key components of an ERP system:-

i) Human resources (HR), also known as human capital management (HCM) is another core process that
companies try to improve with ERP. Basic HCM handles employee records, benefits management and payroll but
often adds talent management functions, such as recruiting and performance management.

ii) Other ERP modules common to most businesses include order management, customer relationship
management (CRM) and purchasing (procurement).
2. The ERP package is designed to support and integrate almost every functional area of a business process such
as procurement of goods and services, sale and distribution, finance, accountings, human resource,
manufacturing, production planning, logistics & warehouse management.
ERP software covers a range of functionality which is not generally offered by accounting software, often factoring in
intangibles like human work hours, product lifecycles, performance units, and customer relations.

Accounting software and ERP packages have come to mean the same thing in today’s market is that accounting
software as we traditionally understands it is fading away. Some of the popular ERP accounting packages are being
mentioned here.

 Sage 300
 Microsoft Dynamics NAV
 SAP Business One
 EPCOR 9 (formerly Vantage)
 Microsoft Dynamics GP
 Macola ES (Exact Software)
 Sage 100
 Net suite (updated 8/8/2016)
 SysPro
 Sage X3

3. There are various reasons for growth of ERP. Few of them are:

i)     Integrate financial information: As the CEO tries to understand the company's overall performance; he may
find many different versions of the truth. ERP creates a single version of the truth that cannot be questioned
because everyone is using the same system.

ii.)     Integrate customer order information: ERP systems can become the place where the customer order lives
from the time a customer service representative receives it until the loading dock ships the merchandise and
finance sends an invoice. By having this information in one software system companies can keep track of orders
more easily, and coordinate manufacturing, inventory and shipping among many different locations
simultaneously.
iii) Standardise and speed up manufacturing processes: Manufacturing companies -especially those with an
appetite for mergers and acquisitions—often find that multiple business units across the company make the
same transaction / recording / report using different methods and computer systems. ERP systems come with
standard methods for automating some of the steps of a manufacturing process.

iv) Reduce inventory: ERP helps the manufacturing process flow more smoothly, and it improves visibility of the
order fulfilment process inside the company. That can lead to reduced inventories of the materials used to make
products (work-in-progress inventory), and it can help users better plan deliveries to customers, reducing the
finished goods inventory at the warehouses and shipping docks.

v) Standardise HR information: Especially in companies with multiple business units, HR may not have a unified,
simple method for tracking employees' time and communicating with them about benefits and services. ERP can
fix that.

4. Enterprise Resource Planning is that combination of the way which sometimes involves unification with ERP to
unleash in sequence submitted and improve commercial process and outcomes.

i) ERP Helps in Delivering Aid to Your Business: - ERP or enterprise resource planning is used by organizations
eager to direct their commerce options at intervals, academic degrees, and at various incorporated systems. ERP

business to satisfy a shared goal or outcome. Among other benefits of ERP, they offer the mix of technology and
business objectives allows firms to operate efficiently as they move forward and adapt. For organizations trying

alternative.

communicate within commerce. Software works as a schematic boss, who keeps belongings running easily & to
make sure that everyone in the section has them in order they require, getting an absolute significant project on
time.
