10 Maghā

The Royal Throne

Star: Alpha Leonis (Regulus) Deity: Pitṛs (the Ancestors)

Myth

We start at this Gandanta point where there is a connection from the past life and the ‘story’
now changes to the continuance of humanity in the material world. There are different
classes of the Pitṛs, the Devāḥ Pitaraḥ (Divine Pitṛs) and the Manuṣyāḥ Pitaraḥ (Pitṛs who
were ancestors of human beings). It is good to know that the
Manuṣyāḥ Pitaraḥ can attain the same level as the Devāḥ
Pitaraḥ and live with them in heaven, but only by living
righteously. We see that instead of being ruled by Devatas (the
gods), Maghā is ruled by Pitṛs (ancestors from the
underworld); therefore, these natives are strongly inclined to
their ancestral beliefs, customs, and traditions and other
material pursuits of the world.

Honoring our ancestors is honoring our own journey through

many lifetimes; much wisdom has been gathered through the
actions of our past lifetimes. The “good King”, the “Mighty
One” uses this wisdom to do good for their communities and
guide others while being humble. It through a kind and
generous leader that others follow towards a righteous path; the leaders use their powers to
become the pillars of a society and support others in their activities.

In many cases, Maghā can bestow all of its positive actions as a result purely through
inheritance and lineage. It is Magha’s job to shape the present using the past. Wherever this
nakṣatra lies in a chart, the person will experience its positive effects because of their past
good deeds. This may manifest as opportunities or as a favor from those in high positions.
These favors can be very sudden (Ketu being the ruler) and based on impulse from those
who bestow them.
