  Había,  habrá,  habría,  ha  habido,  y  todas  las  formas  mencionadas  en  este  post  son  conjugaciones  de  hay  –  la  forma  “impersonal”  de  haber,  es  decir,  no  se  dice  “él  
hay”  –  y  siempre  van  seguidos  de  un  sustantivo.      Hay  +  cosa  =    There  +  to  be  +  object  
  Reconocer  y  entender  esto  es  importante  para  poder  diferenciar  entre,  por  ejemplo:  
  Había  un  coche                                              (forma  impersonal  –  There  was  a  car)  y    
Había  comprado  un  coche  (forma  personal  –            I/He/She  had  bought  a  car).  
  Cuando  una  forma  del  verbo  haber  va  seguida  de  un  sustantivo,  es  la  forma  impersonal  :  there  más  la  forma  conjugada  del  verbo  to  be.  
         ¡OJO!   Se  usa  have  para  haber  cuando  va  seguido  del  participio  pasado,  la  forma  que  suele  terminar  –ido  /  –ado  en  español,    p.ej.  ha  llegado,  y  -­‐-­‐ed  en  inglés,  p.ej.  arrived.  Ej.:

   Sólo  se  usar  There  si  la  conjugación  de  haber  en  español  va  seguido  de  sustantivo  por  lo  tanto:    
Tiene  que  haber  :                      There  has  (got)  to  be        (singular)          There  have  (got))  to  be  (plural)  
Más   Tenía  que  haber  :                      There  had  to  be                                                                              There  should  be  (sentido  de  debería  haber)  
Tiene  que  haber  sido  :    He/She/It  has  (got)  to  have  been  
Tenía  que  haber  sido  :    He/She/It  had  to  have  been                            He/She/It  should  have  been  (sentido  de  debería  haber  sido)  
El  uso  de  got  es  posible  en  presente  aunque  no  se  suele  usar  en  pasado.  
  Las dos reglas para saber cómo decir "hubiera"y "habría" en inglés, solo tienes que aprender dos reglas.
1. Regla: Si el hubiera/habría aparece en una oración con el "SI/IF" condicional, entonces, SIEMPRE utilizaremos el "PAST PERFECT", esto es :
  • Sujeto + had + verbo principal en participio pasado. Por ejemplo:
  • Si él hubiera venido. If he had come. Nota: "had come" es el past perfect del verbo "come".
• Si nosotros le hubiéramos visto. If we had seen him. Nota: "had seen" es el past perfect del verbo"see"
  • Si yo te hubiera escuchado. If I had listened to you. Nota: "had listened to" es el past perfect del verbo "listen"
  Advertencia respecto al "Past Perfect". Si el "Past Perfect" aparece sin "IF" ("si" condicional) entonces la traducción es "había" (no hubiera/habría).
Por ejemplo: When he arrived home, she had already gone to sleep. Cuando el llegó a casa, ella ya se había ido a dormir.
  En este caso, como ves, se trata de "había". Un tiempo verbal que se suele utilizar para narrar.
2. Regla: Si la oración que lleva "hubiera" o "habría" NO lleva "Si/If" condicional, entonces, utilizaremos la fórmula:
Habría  vs   • Sujeto + would + have + verbo principal en participio pasado. Por ejemplo:
Hubiera   • ¿Habría sabido cómo llegar sin su ayuda? Would you have known how to arrive without her help? Nota: Known, participio pasado de "know".
• No habríamos dicho eso. We wouldn't have said that. Nota: "Said" participio pasado de "say".
• Hubiera sido imposible. It would have been impossible. Nota: "Been" participio pasado de "be".
• Yo habría trabajado mucho. I would have worked a lot. Nota: "Worked" participio pasado de "work".
Recuerda: Lo primero que tienes que hacer es aprenderte los participios pasados. Con los regulares no ocurre lo mismo puesto que todos acaban en -ed.
Para recapitular:
Para decir "hubiera" o "habría" en inglés debes comprobar si la estructura lleva, o no, IF.
Si lleva "IF" "IF + SUJETO + PAST PERFECT". Ejemplo: Si me lo hubieras dicho. If you had said it to me.
Si NO lleva "IF" "SUJETO + WOULD + HAVE + PARTICIPIO PASADO DEL VERBO PRINCIPAL". Ejemplo: Yo lo habría resuelto. I would have solved it.
