Paraffin Inhibitor/Pour Point Depressant Intermediate

Product Description
PETROSTEP® KW-115 is a fatty ester of a medium molecular weight copolymer designed to effectively inhibit crystal formation
in hydrocarbons. PETROSTEP KW-115 is designed to distort crystals during formation by solidifying with the high melting
components such as micro-crystalline waxes and high molecular weight paraffins. It is very effective in paraffinic crudes,
reduced crudes and some gas oils. As a part of a fully formulated paraffin inhibitor, PETROSTEP KW-115 is a potent component
for minimizing paraffin deposition. In addition, this product has a low reversion tendency in most applications. PETROSTEP KW-
115 is a high molecular weight product with a relatively high pour point that must be formulated carefully to obtain pour points
of less than 0°C.

Formulation and Application

PETROSTEP KW-115 needs to be diluted and formulated prior to application. The typical level of PETROSTEP KW-115
will be between 10 and 35 wt% in the finished product, although some applications will require up to 50 wt%. For pour point
depression, a second component may be necessary. In addition, this product may enhance the effectiveness of fully formulated
dispersants, solvents and other pour point depressants.

Application of a finished formulation containing PETROSTEP KW-115 should be at the point of easiest application, where the
crude oil is above its wax appearance temperature. Application rates for formulated products will typically range from 100 –
5,000 ppm depending on the crude oil.
