Course Policy

Section 1: Attendance
i. Attendance will be taken during the conference inside the BBB. It will be taken when the lecture starts and
when the lecture ends.
ii. You only allowed to have 4 absences. 3 absences you will be endorsed to the guidance office.
Section 2: Class Standing Percentage
i. Lecture Class Only
a. Quiz – 70%
b. Assignment – 30%
ii. Lecture and Laboratory
a. Quiz – 70%
b. Assignment – 20%
c. Laboratory – 10% (MATLAB, Physics Lab, Data Analysis Lab)

Section 3: Grading System

Grades are computed using the formula as follows:

I. PG = 0.50 PE+0.50 CSP


II. MG = 1/3 PG+2/3(0.50 ME+0.50CSM)
III. FG = 1/3 MG+2/3(0.50 FE+0.50CSF)

where: PG - prelim grades


EG - equivalent grade
PE - prelim exam
ME - midterm exam
MG - midterm grade
FG - final grade
FE - final exam
CS - class standing (e.g. CSP, CSM, CSF, for prelim, midterm, and finals, respectively)

Section 4: Formats for assignment and quiz


Note that assignment and quizzes can be problem solving or multiple-choice questions. If the assessments are
multiple choice no need to submit solution but if it is problem solving, please follow the following:
i. Assignment
a. 1 inch all sides border line (applicable to all pages)
b. 1-inch rectangular box inside the border line at the upper part of the paper
i. This contains complete name (Surname, given name, M.I), assessment title, and date of
submission (MUST BE HANDWRITTEN). (Applicable only to first page)
c. 0.5-inch rectangular box below the name box for the Honor Pledge (MUST BE HANDWRITTEN).
Please see Annex C for reference.
d. Solutions must be handwritten. Use 1-3-3 guidelines for engineering lettering or
architectural writing. Please see Annex B for sample.
e. 15% deduction to your total score per hour for late submission.
f. Submission in the email and inbox will not be entertained.
g. File name: Assessment Title_Surname_Initials (including middle initials) _date of submission (i.e.,
Assignment1P_Dela Cruz_JJL_25082021)
ii. Quiz
a. 1 inch all sides border line
b. 1-inch rectangular box inside the border line at the upper part of the paper.
i. This contains complete name (Surname, given name, M.I), assessment title, and date of
submission (can be typed).
c. 0.5-inch rectangular box below the name box for the Honor Pledge (MUST BE HANDWRITTEN).
d. 30 minutes extension will be provided with 20% deduction. Beyond the extension papers will not be
accepted.
e. File name: Assessment Title_Surname_Initials (including middle initials) _date of submission (i.e.,
Quiz1P_Dela Cruz_JJL_25082021)
f. For quizzes Engineering lettering is not required but make it legible as possible. If the professor
cannot decipher the solution, it will not receive any marks.
Section 5: Request for Special assessment (Assignment, Quiz, Major Exam)
Please follow the protocol before taking the special exam and special quiz.
I. The student will email the faculty-in-charge on why he/she need a special exam in letter form. Put it in
File for documentation. Word Include screenshots as proof (Screenshots, pictures). My email is
jordanmaa.mp@tip.edu.

II. The faculty - in charge will assess the letter, and when he finds it valid based on the evidence presented it
will be endorsed the department chair of MAPD.
III.The department chair will assess the validity of the faculty’s endorsement and forward it the letter to the Dean
for approval.
IV. The Dean will assess again validity of the letter and inform the faculty of its decision.
V. The faculty will now implement the decision of the dean.
VI. Please follow this process strictly. Please acknowledge.

Section 6: Communication
All communication for the course will be through canvas inbox and email only. Other means of communication such as social
media will not be entertained. When you email the faculty make sure to put a subject (i.e., Missed Requirement, Grade
Consultation, Inquiry). Please included all of your concern in one message or email for efficient communication.
