Calling all the weed freaks! Arend Richard is a rock star for all weed lovers.
Wondering why? Well, he is the creative director of WeedTube, an online platform
exclusively for cannabis users. If we say that this video platform is one of the most
happening social media platforms for cannabis users won’t be an understatement.
Arend Richard was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, which is interestingly the
first-ever state in the USA that legalized the use of cannabis. So, it doesn’t come as
a surprise that Arend founded WeedTube, which has become the hub for cannabis
enthusiasts.
WeedTube was created in 2018 and is seen as the YouTube of the cannabis world.
In a short time, it has gained followers, and these numbers continue to grow.
Arend created this website after YouTube shut down much of the cannabis-related
content. WeedTube is also the first video-based social network that effectively
provides monetization options to cannabis influencers and commercial-style
advertising to cannabis businesses.
Arend shared that creating WeedTube came after YouTube purged cannabis
content in March 2018. At the time, Richard had a channel on YouTube, and he
had a huge following. With YouTube removing cannabis content, he lost 200,000
subscribers. After cannabis was legalized in different parts of the US, YouTube
eased its restrictions. However, it was too late for Arend, who had joined a
community of like-minded, passionate content creators in order to launch
WeedTube for cannabis enthusiasts.
Since YouTube’s purge, Arend Richard has become an outspoken advocate against
the weed industry censorship and a promoter of social good for the cannabis
community. In several interviews, he has expressed his opinion and spoken about
the path he has chosen to develop this platform. “My goal is to change the
perception of what it means to be a stoner for the rest of the world, which can look
at cannabis consumers with critical eyes,” he said while talking to one of the media
outlets.
Celebrating Canna4Climate
Canna4Climate is an exciting event that was initiated by Arend in collaboration
with Ariana Newton. The idea of this event to be observed every year on April 21
is to extend the traditional April 20 holiday – that is, International Marijuana Day –
to show the rest of the world what it means to be a stoner.
On April 20, pot smokers worldwide, especially in places like Colorado,
California, and 15 other states where marijuana has been legalized, gather and toke
up with friends each year. WeedTube is already lighting its cosmopolitan fuse, and
there is a lot of material available in English and some in Portuguese and Spanish.
Commenting on the importance of Canna4Climate to connect stoners from
different regions, Arend shared, “WeedTube has a community that has shown great
respect for each other.”
WeedTube also offers a variety of blogs with informative content that help the
users get familiar with the natural cure. The platform is generally targeted to help
marijuana community connect, share, and talk about their journey.
“Circle of friends and connect with other passionate people about sharing and
experiencing cannabis,” said Richard, the co-founder of WeedTube.
