DEMONSTRATION PLAN

Trade: RODA Module/Unit: I

Date: 18.02.2021 Time: 50 Minutes
Lesson No: 03

I. PREPARATION:

Skill: Comparative Scale.

(1) Objectives: (After demonstrating the skill the trainees will be able to)
1) Discuss the Comparative scale.
2) Construct a plain scale to measure time upto a single minute.
3) State the precautions to be following while doing construct drawing.
4) Indicating the length 18km. & 30 minutes on it.
(2) Tools & other requirements: Drawing Board, drawing sheet, Mini drafter, Eraser, Set
Square, Pencils, Sand paper pad, drawing instrument box, model of plain scale 15 cm length.
(3) Introduction:
(a) Review: Last class we have drawn Diagonal scale.
(b) Motivation: Scale is a very important in our day to life. We have using the
engineering drawings. Example, mechanical, civil and geographical map etc.

II. PRESENTATION:

Procedure Information points/ Safety precautions. Hints

1) Comparative scale is a graphical device to compare or

Comparative convert one variable into another. It compares two units in
scale different systems. For example meters, yards, kilometers,
miles, temperature in degrees, centigrade’s and Fahrenheit
etc.

2) Step to be 1. Determine length of the scale ( kilometers scale): Convert unit.

constructed. Length of the scale = R.F. x maximum length Given R.F.&
= 1/200000 x 30x1000x100 maximum length
= 15 cm.
2. Time scale (minute scale):
Speed of the train = 30 km/hour. i.e. 30 km is covered in
60 minutes.

1
Procedure Information points/ Safety precautions. Hints
3. As length of the scale of 15 cm represents 30 km, 60
minutes which is the time required to cover 30 km, can be Ask question
represented on the same length of the scale.
4. Draw a line 15 cm long and divide it into 6 equal parts.
Each part represents 5 km for the distance scale and 10
minutes for the time scale.
5. Divide the first part of the distance scale and the time
scale into 5 and 10 equal parts respectively. Complete the
scales as shown. The distance covered b in 36 minutes is
shown on the scale. Ask question
3) 1. Clean all drawing instrument before and after used.
precautions 2. Avoid rubbing while doing the work.
3. Prevent the overdrawing.

Ask learners to
indentify the
units / length

III. APPLICATION:
1. Which scale is read only different units?
2. Where is the Comparative scale used?

Summary: We had constructed about Comparative scale, calculate representative

fraction and show the length of 4.56 meters on it.

IV. TEST:
Assignment:
1. On a road map, a scale of miles is shown. On measuring from this scale, a distance of 25
miles is shown by a line 10 cm long. Construct this scale to read miles and to measure
up to 40 miles. Construct a comparative scale, attached to this scale, to read kilometers
up to 60 kilometers.1 mile = 1.609 km.
