I. PREPARATION:
(1) Objectives: (After demonstrating the skill the trainees will be able to)
1. Discuss the Vernier scale.
2. Draw a vernier scale of R.F = 1/25 to read centimeters up to 4 meters .
3. State the precautions to be following while constructing drawing.
4. Indicate the length 2.39 metres & 0.91 meter on it.
(2) Tools & other requirements: Drawing Board, drawing sheet, Mini drafter, Eraser, Set
Square, Pencils, Sand paper pad, drawing instrument box, model of plain scale 15 cm length.
(3) Introduction:
(a) Review: Last class we have drawn Comparative scale.
(b) Motivation: Scale is a very important in our day to life. We have using the
engineering drawings. Example, mechanical, civil and geographical map etc.
II. PRESENTATION:
2) Step to be
constructed. Convert unit.
1. Determine length of the scale : Given R.F.&
Length of the scale = R.F. x maximum length maximum
= 1/25 x 4x100 length
= 16 cm.
1
Procedure Information points/ Safety precautions. Hints
2. Draw a line 16 cm long and divide it into 4 equal parts to
show meters. Ask question
3. Divide each of these parts into 10 equal parts to show
decimeters.
4. To construct a vernier, take 11 parts of dm length and
divide it into 10 equal parts. Each of these parts will show a
length of 1.1 dm or 11 cm.
5. The length AB will show 2.39 meters (0.99 + 1.4 = 2.39)
& the length, CD shows 0.91 meter (0.8 + 0.11 = 0.91).
3) Ask question
1. Clean all drawing instrument before and after used.
precautions 2. Avoid rubbing while doing the work.
3. Draw the correct convention line without any mistakes.
Ask learners to
indentify the
units / length
III. APPLICATION:
1. How many units can we read in Vernier scale?
2. Where the Vernier scale is used?
IV. TEST:
Assignment:
1. Construct a full-size vernier scale of inches and show on it lengths 3.67", 1.54" and
0.48".
