From this survey it was found that most residential societies claim that their societies are
accessible to people with disabilities, and they also provide various amenities like elevators,
wheelchairs which are of significant help to people with disabilities. The apparent have an
inclusive design catering to the needs of everyone. However, only 20% of these appartements
have a separate play area for children with disabilities.

In terms of the willingness of the people to adapt their society to make them more accessible
60% of the respondents were willing to make their building more adaptive after learning about
the hardship that people with disabilities must face daily. However, none of the respondents were
willing to participate in a workshop which would help them to better understand the
requirements of the people with disabilities and how they could incorporate little change in their
societies to make it more inclusive. This could probably be because they are unwilling to spare
time for such activities, and this could be because they have not yet been sensitized enough
reading this subject and do not completely understand its significance.

The survey was carried during the outbreak of Covid. Thus, the efficiency of the survey was
drastically impacted as it had to be converted into a telephonic interview rather then us being
able to go on site and get the surveys personally filled by the authorized individuals.

Also, as the survey was conducted telephonically the respondents did not give it must credit and
there was not much enthusiasm from them. Also, this subjected the survey to a lot of biases.

Most of the respondents were very uninterested to fill the survey and it was extremely difficult to
get people to do the survey as most of them were ignorant of disabilities and were unwilling to
do a survey on this particular subject and I suppose this was the case because disabilities is seen
as a controversial subject and people are hesitant to get involved in the subject matter until a near
and dear one of there is a victim of some sort of disability.

Conclusion
From this survey it can be concluded that Accessibility is the first step to inclusion thus, having
an accessible surrounding is a must. Through this survey, it was found that people are briefly
aware of the subject and that some effort has been put in making the surroundings accessible.
However, it was also noticed that people are reluctant to talk about this subject and also ignorant
of the same. This could be due to the controversial nature of the subject and the fact that people
only recognize this matter when their near and dear once become a victim of some sort of
disability.

Overall, it was found that despite effort being put in to increase accessibility through a inclusive
design. There is still a lot of scope of improvement to reach the ideal state of accessibility where
all the barriers of separation are removed, and all people are able to move freely with no
difficulty.
