CHAPTER III

Research Methodology

This chapter clearly defines the research methods used to conduct the study. The researcher
explains how the necessary data and information to address the research objectives and questions
was collected, presented, and analyzed. Reasons and justifications for the research design,
research instrument, data sources, data collection techniques, data presentation techniques and
analytical techniques used are given.

Research Design

Participants

The researchers selected the Grade 11 students from different academic strands of DMMC
Institute of Health Sciences to be the respondents of the study. The respondents of the study
involves selected participants from different strands. Selection of participants were done through
random sampling concluding that the respondents will provide the results that the researchers
will need in this study.

Instrumentation

To provide information and results for the study, online survey questionnaire we’re used.
The instrumentation used was a valid and reliable questionnaire checklist to gather right
information and the needed data from student’s profile. The online questionnaire was drawn out
based on the present studies, information with relevance to the topic.
The research questionnaire was used to know if internet surfing has an effect on students
considering their academic achievement. It was used as the main data collection method in this
study, and were divided in two main sections: the profile and the question proper. The profile
contains the respondents age, gender and strand. For instances statements that will help the
researchers to gather results for this were used in question proper. Open ended questions were
provided to accommodate to free formatted views related to the topics or issues.
