SPEECH ABOUT RIZAL

Good day to all

Today I'm going to talk about dr. jose rizal contribution to the society
Rizal is the national hero of the Philippines. He was the one who led the Filipinos to start a
revolution against the Spanish Government to attain freedom and to gain control of the country.
He is well-known for being a propagandist and his way of fighting the Spanish Government
through his writing by revealing the inhumane manipulation of the Spanish Government in the
Philippines. He chose to have a silent war and not a bloody war because he thinks that it is the
only way to gain freedom.Personally, I admire Dr. Jose P. Rizal because he made a difference for
the country to have that freedom. And I am thankful for what he did because I am proud to say
that I am a true FREE Filipino.Rizal's real name is José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso
Realonda. He was born on June 19, 1861 in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines. He died on December
31, 1896 in Bagumbayan Manila, Philippines. Jose Rizal's parents are Francisco Engracio Rizal
Mercado y Alejandro (1818–1898)and Teodora Morales Alonzo Realonda y Quintos (1826–
1911). Rizal was the seventh child of their eleven children. He wrote these two books, Noli Me
Tangere and El Filibusterismo.Rizal's death on December 31, 1896. The Filipinos were truly
affected by his death in a sense that they were urged to start a revolution against the Spanish
government to gain control of the Philippines. Yearly, there is a commemoration of his death
called Rizal Day. This is the day where Filipinos remember his death and his sacrifice for the
country. He greatly influenced the Filipino people because of what he did for the country. Most
of the Filipino people started to strive really hard for their education to have a successful life.
Rizal's concept of the importance of education is clearly shown in his work entitled Instruction
wherein he sought improvements in the schools and in the methods of teaching. For Rizal, the
mission of education is to elevate the country to the highest seat of glory and to develop the
people’s mentality. Since education is the foundation of society and a prerequisite for social
progress, Rizal claimed that only through education could the country be saved from domination.
Rizal’s philosophy of education, therefore, centers on the provision of proper motivation in order
to bolster the great social forces that make education a success, to create in the youth an innate
desire to cultivate his intelligence and give him life eternal. Rizal has influenced me to strive
really hard in life. Education is the important key to this success. Living his principles will get
me somewhere in this life. Remembering his principles teaches me how to be like him in a way
that he made a difference for the country. I want to do the same thing to in which I am doing
something for my country. And I'm not going to forget about his legacy. With the best of my
ability, I will try to continue this legacy.

In 1887, while studying medicine in the Universidad Central de Madrid, he wrote the novel ‘Noli
Me Tangere’. He harshly criticized the Spanish colonial rule in Philippines and wrote of the
injustices and brutalities suffered by the native people. His novel was banned by the government
due to its scathing contents. He had been exposed to the problematic life under the Spanish
government and was aware of the difficulties experienced by the Filipinos. He became the leader
of the reform movement of Filipino students in Spain and wrote several articles and essays in the
Spanish newspaper ‘La Solidaridad’. Ideas of progressive ideals, peaceful reforms, individual
rights and rights for the Filipino people formed the foundation of his writings. The main focus of
the reforms he advocated were freedom of assembly and speech, representation in the legislature,
equal rights before the law for both Filipinos and Spanish, and that the Philippines be a province
of Spain. In 1891, his second novel ‘El Filibusterismo’ was published as a sequel to his first
novel. The novel dealt with dark and violent themes that were considerably different from the
theme of its predecessor. The novel profoundly impacted the Philippine society’s views about
national identity and was banned in some parts of the country for its portrayal of the Spanish
government’s corruption. He returned to Philippines in 1892 as he felt he needed to be in the
country to effectively bring about reforms. He formed a civic movement called La Liga Filipina
which campaigned for social reforms through peaceful and legal means.By the early 1890s the
government had branded Rizal an enemy of the State in spite of the fact that he advocated
peaceful reforms; the authorities were angry with his novels and writings which had exposed the
corruption of the Spanish Colonial government. There are many qualities that can describe every
hero in the world. Some qualities that would describe Jose Rizal are being open-minded,
intelligent, and hardworking. Jose really wanted to have freedom in the Philippines from Spain,
so that the Filipinos did not have to be controlled by another country. He did not care about
himself. He cared more about helping his country. He really wanted his country to be proud of
him. Jose also was very smart. He knew how to work many jobs and had mastered 23 languages.
He also helped other people who needed help. Jose was hardworking in all that he tried to
accomplish. He once said, "It’s a useless life that is not concentrated to a great ideal. It’s like a
stone wasted on the field without becoming a part of any edifice." Heroes can be personal or
famous. They are helpful, open-minded, and fair. There are many different types and kinds of
heroes in the world. Jose did many good deeds and tried to accomplish his goals; he wanted to
free his country. He was well-known enough to even have his own special holiday which
celebrates the anniversary of his death. Few people have had a leader who so entirely gave of
himself as he did, and who asked so little for himself in return. He is a hero.
