4. MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
The candidate shall supply the typed copy of the manuscript to the guide for
approval. In the preparation of the manuscript, care should be taken to ensure that all
textual matter is in the same format as may be required for the final thesis.
The heading of all items 2 to 11 listed in section 2, front matter and chapter
titles, should be typed in capital letters without punctuation. The text should
commence 6 point space below this heading. The page numbering for all items 2 to 11
listed in section 2 should be done using lower case Roman numerals and the pages
after that should be numbered using Arabic numerals.
4.2 Declaration
The Declaration shall be as per the format in Appendix (E1&E2).
4.3 Certificate
The Certificate shall be as per the format in Appendix (B1 & B2). The
certificate shall carry the Project Guide’s signature and shall be followed by
the name, academic designation (not any other responsibilities of
administrative nature), and department (in case of co-guide from another
department).
4.4 Acknowledgement
The author of the thesis can acknowledge the help and guidance
received from different persons in this section. Acknowledgement shall carry
the names of the responsible persons (in bold), with their designation,
department and organizations where they work. Any financial support
received from funding agencies in the preparation of the thesis should
definitely be stated here. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing
the matter under this head.
PROCEDURE MANUAL
GUIDELINES FOR SEMINAR/PROJECT REPORT PREPARATION
Institution Vision, Mission and Quality Policy should be typed with double
line spacing, Font Style Times New Roman and Font Size 12.

4.7 Abstract
The abstract should be one-page synopsis (not more than 300 words)
of the project report typed with 1.5 line spacing, Font Style Times New
Roman and Font Size 12.
The table of contents should list all material following it as well as any
material which precedes it. The title page, bonafide certificate and
acknowledgement will not find a place among the items listed in the table of
contents. The page numbers of the items which precede the table of contents
(items 4 to 11 listed in section 2) should be given in lower case Roman letters.
One and a half spacing and zero point value for spacing before and after
paragraph should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. A
specimen copy of the Table of Contents of the project report is given in
Appendix (F1).
The list should use the same captions as they appear above the tables in
the text with figure numbers on the left-hand side and page number on the
right-hand side. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the
matter under this head.
The list should use the same captions as they appear below the figures
in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter
under this head.

4.12 CHAPTERS
The font style shall be Times New Roman consistently.
The line spacing shall be 1.5 consistently.
Paragraph alignment shall be left and right justified.
6 pt spacing shall be given after headings and paragraphs.
1 cm indentation shall be given at the beginning of each paragraph.
Preparation of sketches should be done neatly with proper headings and details.
Care should be taken to see that SI units only are used in the illustrations.
Each chapter should be given appropriate title.
Tables & figures in a chapter should be placed near the reference where they are
cited.
Footnotes should be used sparingly. They should be typed single space and placed
directly underneath in the very same page which refers the material they annotate
Literature Survey should contain the information about existing system details of
the project, Drawbacks of the existing system, Aim and objective of the new
system, Method of the new approach, Application area and the reference from
IEEE PAPER / Journals.
Design and Development must contain the information about Block Diagram of
the Project, Circuit Diagrams, Design concepts and Equations, Hardware
Description and Functions.
Software / Tool Environment should contain the brief information about the
software platforms used for the project, Technical information about the
software/tool used, Mode and steps of working procedure of the software/tool,
with necessary codes.
Results and Discussion should contain brief and specific information about the
satisfied and optimized outputs of the designed system / Simulation results with
necessary proofs.
Suggestions for further work should contain brief details about the technical
problems met during the first phase of project work and the remaining project
work (Second phase) to be carried out.

GUIDELINES FOR SEMINAR/PROJECT REPORT PREPARATION
The conclusion should contain the details about the demonstration of the first
phase project work and the achievements related to the aim and objective of the
project work done so far.
Appendix and Annexure, containing supplementary material, source codes, flow
charts, if any, can be after the references.
Equations
All equations must be clearly set and numbered. Use equation editor as far as possible
and set the font size to 12 points (which is the default font size). When referring to the
equations in the text, preface the number with the word ‘Eqn.’ and place the number
within brackets. Thus, for example, Eqn. (1.1). Equations should be numbered as
(1.1), (1.2), (1.3), etc. The first number represents the chapter number. The numbers
should appear at the extreme right end of the line. Do not set them in bold or italics
type. Ensure that subscripts and superscripts are legible. The equations in the
appendices can be numbered with A., B., C., etc. as prefixes.
Tables
By the word Table, is meant tabulated numerical data in the body of the project report
as well as in the appendices. Tables must be set as part of the text. Smaller font sizes
may be used to enable the table to fit the space. All tables must have a caption. The
caption should be kept above the table and centred. If the caption runs into more than
one line, keep it justified at both ends. Captions should be numbered sequentially
starting with number 1. Thus, for example, “Table 1.1: Input data”. Leave 12 pt space
above and below tables. Large tables may be set in a landscape mode, i.e. sideways on
the page, reading up. The tables in the appendices can be numbered with A., B., C.,
etc. as prefixes.

Figures
All other non-verbal materials used in the body of the project work and appendices
such as charts, graphs, maps, photographs and diagrams may be designated as figures.
These should be neat and clear. They should be positioned centrally on the width of
the page and close to their text reference. They should not appear on the opening page
(first page) and must fit within the page text size. Try to avoid boxing text between
two illustrations on a page as this can sometimes make reading more difficult. Ensure
that all spelling and annotations (numbers, letters, symbols and captions) conform to
their usage in the text.
Captions to figures, (diagrams and/or illustrations) should be set text size and centred
below the figure. If the caption is more than one line in length, follow the alignment
style as given in the table captions above. All figures must be numbered sequentially
starting with the number 1. Thus, for example, Figure 1.1: Velocity fields. Leave 12
points above and below each figure/illustration.
The figures in the appendices can be numbered with A., B., C., etc. as prefixes.

4. Websites
References to websites should include corporate or personal authors, the title of the
document, date of the document (if available), web address (complete URL), and date
accessed by the author.

2000 Technology Problem, Sep. 10, 1998.

1998.)
4.15 APPENDICES
Appendices are provided to give supplementary information, which is
included in the main text may serve as a distraction and cloud the central theme
(Datasheets, IEEE Paper / Journals, Software codes, etc.…).
Appendices should be numbered using Arabic numerals, e.g. Appendix 1,
Appendix 2, etc.
Appendices, Tables and References appearing in appendices should be numbered
and referred to at appropriate places just as in the case of chapters.
Appendices shall carry the title of the work reported, and the same title shall be
made in the contents page also.
4.16 PRINT OUT IN LARGE SIZE PAPERS
If data (like CAD drawing, software outputs, etc.) needs to be printed in larger sized
papers due to space constraints in an A4 sheet, larger-sized sheets (like A3, A2, etc.)
may be used. These should be attached along with the main report as Appendix. If the
number of non-A4 sheets is more than five sheets, it can be bound separately (if
needed). Otherwise, the sheets should be carefully folded and bound along with the
main report.
