Introduction:
The school provides the environment where teaching and learning happen. As a
member of a learning institution, the school, one should acquire a clear understanding
of its vision, mission, goals and outcomes as these serve as a guide and inspiration to
achieve a common goal.

In this unit, you are expected to:


 relate the Vision, Mission and Goal of the University to your personal

After reading the VMGO, discuss with your groupmates the answers to the
following questions:
o What does the VMGO mean to you?
o Why is it important for the school to have a VMGO?
o What should the school do to attain its VMGO?
o What should you do to help attain the VMGO?
o What evidences can you give that the institution has attained its VMGO?
o What reasons can you give why the institution cannot attain its VMGO?
o When should the school need to change its VMGO?
Just like you, Cebu Technological University has also its hopes and dreams
translated in its vision, mission, goals and outcomes.
The vision statement articulates what the institution aspires to become in the
future. In other words, it sets the destination. Hence, it provides direction for
development and inspiration for all its stakeholders to give their best to be able to reach
the school’s vision.
The mission statement communicates what the school should do to achieve its
vision. It provides the means to reach its destination. It tells the stakeholders the
services it offers or the reason for its existence.
The goal of the University specifies the quality of products it will produce. It
describes the kind or quality of graduates it will produce and the actions or activities it
will undertake to achieve the goals.
The Program Outcomes are the minimum standards expressed as a minimum
set of desired program outcomes stipulated in the CHED Memorandum Order on the
Policies, Standards and Guidelines for each program in Teacher Education. These
include the competencies that the graduates of State Colleges and Universities must
possess to support the national, regional and local development plans as stipulated in
RA 7722.
The Course Learning Outcomes (CLO) identifies the knowledge and skills that
the students are expected to acquire by the end of the course.  The Intended Learning
Outcomes (ILO) identifies what the students are expected to learn at each session or
period. Both the CLOs and ILOs are observable and measurable statements.
Observable means that the learning outcomes are to be performed or demonstrated by
the students. Hence, action verbs are used. Measurable means that the students’ level
of performance can be determined or evaluated.
Acquiring a clear understanding of the school’s vision, mission, goals and
outcomes guides all the stakeholders as to where they are all going and how they can
reach there. Everyone therefore has to contribute towards achieving a common goal.
Without a common goal, everyone is left to do his/her own thing and is to claim that
what he/she is doing is right. And now that we are part of this learning institution, we
should therefore commit ourselves to the realization of its VMGO.
For the vision, mission, goals and outcomes to be relevant and responsive to the
needs of the society and the demands of time, it has to be regularly revisited and
revised.
