1. INTRODUCTION

Established in 1979, Orient Cement was formerly, a part of Orient Paper & Industries. It was
demerged in the year 2012 and since then, it has emerged as one of the fastest growing and
leading cement manufacturers in India. Orient Cement began cement production in the year 1982
at Devapur in Adilabad District, Telangana. In 1997, a split-grinding unit was added at Nashirabad
in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. In 2015, Orient Cement started commercial production at its integrated
cement plant located at Chittapur, Gulbarga, Karnataka. With a total capacity of 8 MTPA, they
serve Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and parts of Madhya Pradesh, Tamil
Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh.

The product mix includes Pozzolana Portland Cement (PPC) & Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)
marketed under the brand name of Birla.A1 – Birla.A1 Premium Cement and Birla.A1 StrongCrete.

With focus on resilience and durability, the company has created benchmarks in the industry with
the quality of its products. It is certified for QMS ISO 9001:2015, EMS ISO 14001:2015, OHSMS
45001:2015, ISO 19011:2018, ISO 50001:2011, ISO 27001:2013. Orient Cement is one of the only
two Indian cement companies to be awarded the prestigious TPM (Total Plant Maintenance)
excellence award by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance. The company has also received
numerous awards for green and safety practices including ‘GreenPro Certification’ by CII – Green
Products and Services Council for its product Birla.A1 Premium Cement (PPC).

2. BACKGROUND

Orient Cement has Implemented SAP in the Year 2015 with FI, CO, SD, MM, PP, PM, QM, SAP
DMS, SAP Router, SF & Workflows. Subsequently, Process Orchestration was implemented in
2017 by the inhouse team with the integrations to QLIKSENSE, TM1, SFA, VC, GST, e-POD, RFID,
Eway Bill, e-Invoice, SFDC, Banks, eProcurement, Weight Bridge, Outlook, SMS Alerts, Digital
Signature, etc...

3. OBJECTIVE

To conduct an assessment study of migration of existing SAP ECC to S/4HANA as per the scope
mentioned below. The output of this exercise will provide a detailed implementation scope,
migration approach, S/4HANA Roadmap & design, SAP Fiori Apps and Analytics Roadmap &
Design and Business Opportunities via S/4HANA.

4. S/4HANA Migration Assessment Study Scope

Assessment study for SAP S/4HANA Roadmap should cover the following aspects.

System Study:

➢ ‘AS IS’ system study and business processes with Identification of opportunities, pain points,
manual processes, non-SAP systems integrated with SAP
➢ Study System Technical Readiness Check and Business Scenario Recommendations (BSR)
➢ Study existing customization, business impact, gap analysis & custom code in ECC and provide
recommendations to move to standard functionalities in S/4HANA
➢ Study of ongoing projects in ECC and recommendations to include in S/4HANA platform
➢ Detailed study of migration approach from SAP ECC to S/4HANA SaaS vs IaaS/On-Premises
➢ Detailed study for Infra structure requirements (IAAS vs On-premises) and sizing (Primary and
Secondary) considering future expansion
➢ Detailed study on licensing approach and costing moving from ECC 6.0 Ehp7 to S/4HANA
➢ All Basis (Admin) and landscape migration needs to be a part of the study exercise
➢ Benchmarking Study of Industry best practices of S/4HANA and as per best practices in
Cement Industry
➢ Vendor should also study areas which may see important for the complete assessment
outcome

Workshops:

➢ Conduct workshops on S/4HANA functionalities with all Stakeholders to demonstrate the new
capabilities
➢ Fiori Apps, Workflows & Analytics Workshops with all Stakeholders to demonstrate the
capabilities of S/4HANA
➢ Conduct workshops with all Stakeholders to understand the current setup and improvement
opportunities

Design and Roadmap:

➢ ‘TO BE’ Roadmap and solution design for the S/4HANA Platform
➢ Detailed design (integration approach) to replace the existing Qlik & Cognos TM1 & other
satellite applications with Fiori / Analytics. The design should also identify the areas of
improvement in business processes considering features of the proposed Analytics tools
➢ Complete Roadmap for S/4HANA migration and integration with non-SAP applications
➢ Design should include simplification of problematic processes, manual or difficult steps to
automate / reduce the process steps
➢ Flexibility to accommodate capacity expansions of the Organization
➢ Recommendations in process improvements, configurations, and developments as per
industry best practices
➢ Detailed plan for S/4HANA Conversion Strategy (Brown field vs Hybrid)
➢ Detailed Design on Master Data & Transactional data transition approach
➢ Recommendations on Risk Mitigations, Downtime required, Changeover scenario
➢ A detailed report on Business process transformation such as existing process, re-design,
manual to automation, process improvement (complicated processes to simplified processes)
➢ A detailed design/blueprint to move existing processes, reports, and third-party applications
to Fiori APP’s or Analytics
➢ Any recommendations or design provided should also cover the impact of licensing and
infrastructure in terms of capacity, Qty and cost
➢ A detailed report needs to cover recommendations, Business Opportunities, design/blueprint
of different scenarios, implementation scope and benchmarking study report for S/4HANA
migration & implementation, Fiori apps and Analytics
