1) PREFACE

The product which is being marketed here is imaginary. We have designed a product in this
project work as per the instructions given by our professor. The product of such name and brand
doesn’t exist. This project is mainly for study purposes or more specifically it is for our during
semester assessment. This activity was given to us of designing a product for presentation and to
judge our marketing skills in the subject of ‘Fundamental of Marketing Management’.

2) INTRODUCTION

This project contains a lot of information about how to introduce a particular product in a
market. It deals with the thoughts and ideas one should keep in mind while creating a product till
it gets introduced on the market. There are many things to be taken care of while making,
introducing, promoting, and selling products. It usually has some legal formalities to be done
such as issuing permission and license required for the certain type of product. The type of
packaging, warehousing, schemes while selling a product, transportation, etc. Mostly there
unique selling techniques acquired by the company to sell its product. A product must always
have a ‘tagline’ to place its brand, name, and value in a market. Besides all these important
things, one must also have an eye on its competitor. There should be a proper competitor analysis
while introducing a product, keeping in mind the strategy used by them.
Thus, we all can see, there are lot of things to be taken care of while handling a product in a
market. For a clear understanding of these concepts, here this project contains about the
imaginary product to compare and apply all the concepts for marketing of that product using all
those strategies and concepts of marketing for a better development company and sales.

3) PLANNING AND ACTIVITIES DONE DURING THE PROJECT

While doing this project work, there are some things that we had to take care of. We had to
search about certain regarding the important terms and factors about the product, for example
studying about the important licenses and other requirements. We discussed a tagline, logo and
things for better positioning in the minds of customers. Before all this, of course designing a
product is the foremost thing to be done during this project. We discussed every instruction
proposed by our professor and tried to implement it as best as we could.

Many other things were also discussed and searched along the internet to find the answers for
problems. We researched the things mentioned in this project below.

4) OBSERVATION AND FINDINGS

4.1) INTRODUCTION

The primary idea of the product is to spread education in the modern world. The
digital notebook was designed keeping in mind the requirements of children.
Digital notebook is a device which is disguised as normal notebook but with some
digital features to reduce the load of notebooks and compressed them into one
single notebook. It is a digital notebook with a stylus for writing and drawing. The
work or the content would be auto-saved in an organized manner.

Digital notebook has a memory storage of usable 77 gb. It has charging and USB
ports for hardware storage devices such as pen drives and hard disks. As we all
know, usage of phones or tablets is prohibited during class as the students would
be either playing games or using social platforms etc. The motto of the digital
notebook is to reduce the weight of notebooks carried by students. It is light and
compact to carry. It has in-built geometry tools and colored pen strokes. Battery
life of digital notebook is 18 hours and Type C chargers are to be used for
charging. It also has dark mode, reading mode.

4.4) PERMISSION AND LICENSE REQUIRED

Our product requires a BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) License for protection,
standardization and quality marking for an accountable and traceable system,
which eventually accommodates your consumers, creating a sense of assurance and
trust. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is a National Standard Body established
under the BIS Act 1986, responsible for managing the product certification scheme
in India to ensure product quality, safety, and trust. BIS certification is not a
universal standard for all the products, rather, products are governed under a
particular Indian Standard.

BIS License promotes imports and domestic manufacturers by guiding them on a


regular basis with the correct specifications of the products to harmonize the flow
and quality through certification and testing.

5) COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

Amazon Kindle: Amazon was launched almost 11 years ago and what it did was
simply change the way people read and store reading memories. Amazon Kindle has
undergone some breathtaking changes in recent past just to serve users with the
incomparable experience.

To serve to the scattered base of readers, Amazon has introduced varieties in Kindle. The
varied Kindle aims to serve people with different reading needs. Now people can choose
the product based on their preference of paper quality.
The reason the product is loved is because of its innovative screens for people who love
reading. The screen looks almost like paper and there is hardly any strain on the eyes.
Thus, as compared to mobiles or tablets, you can read on a Kindle for hours on end. With
the combination of memory, and the capacity to store over 2000 novels, you are never
short of anything to read.

Amazon Kindle is the perfect alternative to paperback books, because it leverages an
experience very close to reading a paperback. The simple functionalities that make
reading a fun experience are the reason behind the immense popularity of Kindle.
International delivery is also available for the product; Amazon entered Asian countries
only in the last decade, but the product has been delivered to everyone who-so-ever asked
for it. Amazon has worked efficiently on the delivery services and ensured that the
products are being delivered to everyone who desires to own a kindle.
Initially, Amazon kindle was sold only through the Amazon US marketplace, and it was
being delivered across the world. Amazon was ready to give piece for piece replacement
for the Kindly to ensure that the product becomes a favorite in the market. Slowly as the
popularity grew, kindly stopped being sold only on Amazon and started selling on other
portals too. In fact, Croma and other popular retail stores are selling it from the storefront.

If we compare it with other eBook readers such as the ones introduced by Sony or Barnes
and Nobles, then the Amazon Kindle is premium priced. The varied versions come with
varied pricing; the most loved Amazon Kindle can be acquired for the payment of 100-
200 USD. The price varies from country to country based upon the taxation system.
There are versions of Amazon Kindle that are priced at $399, $350 and $450. The newer
versions are smarter and come with a lot of interesting functionalities. The simple
functions that allow people to adjust light, manage highlighted text and increase
brightness are making people love this product more than ever. No library subscription or
no membership to book clubs can replace the cost effectiveness of Amazon Kindle.

Be it America, Europe or India, Amazon has marketed Kindle well according to the tastes
of each region. Impressive marketing campaigns and online contests are being run to let
people discover new reading options. People from the remotest corners of the world can
order it from Amazon.com and take their reading experience to a different level.
There are other ways through which Amazon wants to promote the sales of Amazon
Kindle and ensure everyone gets to experience the best of books. Amazon kindle can be
bought online as well as offline. Varied Amazon partners are providing great deals.
Amazon has used the save paper initiative quite aggressively for marketing Amazon
Kindle.
Top Notch Writers like Amit Sanghi and Amish Tripathi have been promoting the
product. Across the world, Authors have become brand ambassadors for the Kindle.
Everyone used to love reading a paperback book and used to complain looking at others
reading with technology. Amazon shows through its marketing campaigns that you can
love book reading with the latest in technology as well.
They have been enrolled as the brand ambassador for product in India. The presence of
such celebrated writers has helped the brand increase their outreach and develop trust
among readers.

6) MARKETING MIX FOR MY PRODUCT – DIGITAL NOTEBOOK

6.1) PRODUCT MIX

To serve the scattered needs of students, “Digital Notebook” provides: Digi-notes,


E-library, Calci, DiNiory and Byju's. It comes with a rough matte finish screen to
provide the feeling of writing on paper.

6.2) PRICING MIX


We compare it with other eBook readers, such amazon, Sony and others, then ‘Digital
Notebook’ is premium priced. It is being given with a rough matte screen with 77 GB
storage. In-built dictionary along with a large source of E-library. It is cheaper than any
other library subscription. It provides you with in-built geometry tools, letting you not
buy them again and again. It has simple features of reading like dark mode, reading mode
with variable intensity. It also comes with different color strokes along with a variety of
brushes. After analyzing the costs incurred, the product is to sell at Rs. 11,999 only.
6.3) PACKAGING

The device comes in a white-colored cuboid box which consists of AC adapter, a


USB type-C cable, the user manual with our reputed companies' stickers, and a
leather cover protected by layer of paper. The Digital Notebook and its accessories
are held in a tray made of the usual recycled egg-cartoon type material. Inside that
box is packaging for the product, a book like held shut by an elastic band around a
post recessed into the ‘cover’. The box will look reasonably attractive on a
bookshelf. Inside the bookshelf box, the product is on one side and the accessories
are on other side.

6.4) WAREHOUSING

We will be using climate-controlled warehouses for storage. Climate-controlled


warehouses artificially manage temperature, humidity, and air movement inside a
building. These warehouses use systems and processes that remove climate
unpredictability that can affect product quality. Electronic components and
modules are sensitive to both temperature and humidity. Plastic casings change
shape with extreme heat or cold. Metal expands and contracts based on
temperature as well. However, perhaps most damaging to electronics is humidity,
which is the amount of water vapor in the air. Humidity produces water molecules
that penetrate component insulation, block voltage, and corrode chips.

6.5) PROMOTIONS

● We will provide the product at a discounted price to the first 150 users.

7. CONCLUSION

Digital Notebooks aims at spreading education in this modern world with online
studying. With the collaboration with Byju's, we would like to provide our
customers with the best education. Apart from this, Digital Notebook is also about
reducing the carrying load of students and any other person burdened with loads of
notebooks.
