ESSAY – HAPPY MOMENT AND COMPASSIONATE ACT

Name:
Throughout the years, all of us have been accumulating a great number of
experiences and memories within us. It's almost unlikely to think that a person
doesn't remember an experience that has happened to him or her; these
experiences are usually bad or good for us; however, the important thing is that
each one of them gives us a message that we must understand in order to grow
up and try that the next time we are faced with a similar situation, we know what
to do and how to proceed in the best way. Because I like to share information
about my life, I will proceed to tell you one of my memories. That's why the topic
I want to talk to you about is about a happy moment or memory of my life and at
the same time a compassionate act.
I can’t remember the exact date, although I do remember what happened that
day. It all started one rainy day in the afternoon. It was being a terrible day since
many bad things had happened to me. I arrived late to school and the teacher
didn't let me in; then, I lost money for my lunch and, on top of that, my dance
partner didn't attend the class. Consequently, I had to dance alone because
everyone had a dance partner and there wasn’t anybody else for me. I didn't
even have money to take the bus to go home, so I decided to walk. After
walking a few blocks back to my house, I saw an accident that made me freeze.
A water truck had overturned and the driver, who was an elderly man, had been
trapped. Witnessing this disaster, people began to come closer to see what had
happened. It seemed really bad. Seeing the danger that the old man was in,
many people began to pull the heavy metal to help the old man, since the
vehicle was at risk of exploding at any moment. Upon realizing that the engine
part of the car had caught fire, people began to despair. Furthermore, a large
part of the vehicle's fuel supply had been broken and was beginning to fall to
the ground. Trapped by the heavy metals, the old man lost hope of being
rescued in time. The despair was immense, and we all felt bad for that poor
man; we even think that he might die. However, having heard about the
incident, a few strong and brave men rushed to the scene. These brave men
arrived and began to pull the heavy metals from that destroyed vehicle with
more force. And just when all seemed lost, they were able to get the old man
out with only a few minor injuries. Before being taken to the hospital, the old
man smiled and thanked all of us who had saved his life.
From my point of view, I consider that this memory is important to me because it
went from being a terrible day to seeing how people felt sorry for that old man
and were willing to help him. In addition, I remember and I will do it very well
because the happiness and relief that the other people who were trying to save
the elderly and I felt is something that’s not seen very much today. You don’t
see many compassionate acts when you go out with friends because not many
people worry about others. It’s one of the few experiences that could radically
change one of the several bad days that I have had throughout my life and I’m
sure that more happy moments will come to my life.
