Teaching experience
The job of a teacher is extremely rewarding since it gives the
opportunity of becoming part of a person’s life and imprint in his
mind the knowledge that will allow him achieve greater goals. It is
a two-way process in which both, teacher and students, have the
opportunity to learn from each other.
During my teaching practice, my students taught me that each
one learns differently and has a different capacity to process and
apply information. Therefore, different activities and methods
should be used during class time. Their commitment to learn a
second language coming so early every day, with a positive
attitude, also taught me that there is no obstacle when you have a
genuine desire to achieve something.
My first official teaching experience was not until this past
summer. I got to work as a kindergarten teacher at a summer
school and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I have
always loved children, especially kindergarten through second
grade children, so I was very excited about my position. Of
course, I was incredibly nervous on my first day of teaching. First
of all, I wasn’t even sure if I was cut out to be a teacher, and
second of all, the thought of watching and teaching a bunch of
rowdy five year olds was overwhelming, to say the least.
Nonetheless, my first day in the classroom went better than I
expected. My job as their teacher was to teach them the alphabet,
how to spell words, and simple math, like counting. Though the
learning content was not difficult, coming up with six weeks worth
of lesson plans was something that I had never done before. At
first, it was incredibly difficult for me to figure out what I should
do for every day, but with time, the process got a little bit easier,
and I started getting more creative with the lessons. My first
teaching experience taught me a lot about what it means to be a
teacher and a lot about myself, as a future educator. For example,
I always knew that coming up with lesson plans was not easy, so
I’m glad that I was able to have this experience to prepare me for
it in the future. I also learned that I do not have a good sense of
time when I am teaching, so I now know to make sure to make a
schedule of what will be done at what time.
As a freshman in the School of Education, I am so excited to get
plugged into real classrooms soon and get even more training and
insight on what it really is like to be a teacher. Though elementary
education is not what I am majoring in, this teaching experience
gave me a view of what it is that I could potentially be doing a few
years from now, and I am more than excited to explore this
amazing field that is education.
Motivation you to being a teacher

There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career
choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired
me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong
learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge
and values to others, but also encourage them to share my
passion for learning.

My motivation also extended from watching my Mother’s side her

parents were both worked in primary school. Whilst I didn’t
realise the exact power of their influence until recently, I have
come to note that it was probably their enthusiasm and love for
their job, their constant desire to learn and make a difference in
the world through education that has influenced me into choosing
my career path.
Their roles have also made me realise the importance of teachers
and the power they have to help those in need and change lives.

Here are some of the things that motivate me to teach

1. The smile on students’ faces when all of a sudden they

understand a new skill.
2. Seeing students, who think they can’t do something, suddenly
realize that all things are possible.
3. Sharing knowledge that students may not know.
4. Parents who appreciate me and encourage me to continue
what I’m doing.
5. Learning something new along with my students.
6. Knowing in their hearts, these students really want to be
successful.
7. Facing the challenge of teaching students who have not been
successful in the past and seeing them become successful in the
present.
8. Talking to former students who remember me and finding out
how they are and what they are doing now.
9. Students who begin to ask questions and are thirsting to learn
more.
10. The hope that I will influence someone else in a positive way

Observations of life situations that evoke questions and

responses
One of my neighbor’s daughter want to pursue her education in
the field of art. She is very good in painting and has little interest
in academics. So after her 12th board she wanted to do Bachelors
in Fine Art but her parents did not allowed her to do so. She was
forced to do b.com and then they wanted her to do MBA and get
married. They did so because according to them a girl should
have a degree and then get married and look after her husband’s
family.
Questions & responses:
After knowing her situation I feel that why is it important for a girl
to have a degree in academics. Not only a girl but for boy as well.
A student should be given full independence to select his/her
course. Why in our society we don’t like our child to make his
career in dance music art? We always push our child for academic
courses. A girl is always asked to complete her studies till the age
of 24 and get married because after that they will not be able to
find the best match or the society will talk. Even after studying so
much they expect her to handle home properly. People want
educated daughter in law just for the sake of their reputation. My
neighbor’s daughter wanted to do B.F.A. that she was not allowed
to do because b.f.a is for 4 years and after that she will do m.f.a
that is for 2 years that makes 6 years back to back and that it will
take her time to earn or make her name. So she is not supposed
to do what she loves. This same thing happens with boys. They
have to support his parents and if he does such courses he will not
be able to make money. Why can’t we allow children to go for
such courses?
Observation:
Today’s generation is so much into alcoholism, drugs, smoking and
other bad habits. Knowing the fact that this is harmful for them
and can have bad results still they do such things.
Questions & responses:
There are many friends of mine who are into all this habits. They
know its side effects but still want to do that just for the sake of
enjoyment. Drinking is very common and is practiced everywhere.
Our government knows the fact but is not taking any action for
the future generation. No one was benefited from alcohol.
Government should ban the manufacturers and its supplier. No
strict rules are taken. People drink and drive, so many accidents
have taken place. Strict action is what we need to have. Even on
dry days people sell liquor in black. Our youth is educated, know
there wrong and right but never understands its side effects.

Problem in education system

India is a developing country. Efforts are made to make India

grow . This can only happen when literacy rate in India will
increase. For that we need to educate people, but according to
me there are some loopholes in our education system.
1) Why in India, education system promotes competition?
Students only mug up the syllabus and score marks rather than
understanding the concept.

2) Why education system do not help in developing personality

of a student? System only demands for good marks, but according
to my view personality development is equally important.

3) Why reservation system is still followed in India? This system

increased social disparity rather than reducing it. Admissions
should be purely based on merit basis.

4) If government is not able to boycott reservation system than

they should do something for general category. Why general
people should suffer every time? A general should get 99.9
percentile to get admission in top IIM’s whereas a SC could get
admission even if he score 56 percentile.

5) There are hardly any good universities for higher education and
seats are few as compared to the applications.

6) Courses are changed without preparing their complete

structure and later students suffer because they are not able to
get proper books and notes.
7) Students study to get job rather than acquiring knowledge.
They chose courses which provide them high paid job.

8) Teachers give difficult problems of math as homework which a

student is not able to do on his/her own. Hence he/she is forced
to join tutions.

9) Why is there lack of vocational courses in a curriculum? There

are very few teachers and parents who motivate their child to opt
for such courses.
10) Why the marking scheme means more page = more marks?
The quality of answer is ignored and marks are given on the basis
of number of paged written in exam.

11) Universities and schools take long time in giving certificates.

We have to go from one place to another for certificates and
many times we don’t get it. It waste our time and we have to take
off from our pursuing courses.

12) Why government allowed passing of students till grade 8? It

makes them less efficient.
13) Summer Holiday homework should be given according to
student’s capability.

14) Concepts of English grammar are not clear. Teachers never

took initiative to improve grammar.
Workshop–1

( storytelling)
What Is Storytelling?

A statement by the National Storytelling Network defines

Storytelling as an ancient art form and a valuable form of human
expression. Because story is essential to so many art forms,
however, the word “storytelling” is often used in many ways.

As a result, the National Storytelling Network would like to explain

the term as it is used by the growing and vibrant community of
storytelling practitioners in India.

Our hope is to call attention to storytelling as an art worth

promoting, and to help those outside the storytelling community
to distinguish storytelling from other, related forms of human
expression.

Here is what most of us mean by “storytelling”:

Storytelling is the interactive art of using words and actions to
reveal the elements and images of a story while encouraging the
listener’s imagination.

Storytelling Is Interactive

Storytelling involves a two-way interaction between a storyteller

and one or more listeners. The responses of the listeners
influence the telling of the story. In fact, storytelling emerges from
the interaction and cooperative, coordinated efforts of teller and
audience.

In particular, storytelling does not create an imaginary barrier

between the speaker and the listeners. This is part of what
distinguishes storytelling from the forms of theatre that use an
imaginary “fourth wall.”

Different cultures and situations create different expectations for

the exact roles of storyteller and listener – who speaks how often
and when, for example – and therefore create different forms of
interaction.
The interactive nature of storytelling partially accounts for its
immediacy and impact. At its best, storytelling can directly and
tightly connect the teller and audience.

Storytelling Uses Words

Storytelling uses language, whether it be a spoken language or a

manual language . The use of language distinguishes storytelling
from most forms of dance and mime.

Storytelling Uses Actions Such As Vocalization, Physical

Movement And/Or Gesture

These actions are the parts of spoken or manual language other

than words. Their use distinguishes storytelling from writing and
text-based computer interactions. Not all nonverbal language
behaviors need to be present in storytelling. Some storytellers use
body movement extensively, for example, whereas others use
little or none

Storytelling Presents A Story

Storytelling always involves the presentation of a story—a
narrative. Many other art forms also present story, but storytelling
presents it with the other four components. Every culture has its
own definition of story. What is recognized as a story in one
situation may not be accepted as one in another. Some situations
call for spontaneity and playful digression, for example; others call
for near-exact repetition of a revered text. Art forms such as
poetry recitation and stand-up comedy sometimes present stories
and sometimes don’t. Since they generally involve the other four
components, they can be regarded as forms of storytelling
whenever they also present stories.

Storytelling Encourages The Active Imagination Of The

Listeners.

In storytelling, the listener imagines the story. In most traditional

theatre or in a typical dramatic film, on the other hand, the
listener enjoys the illusion that the listener is actually witnessing
the character or events described in the story.

The storytelling listener’s role is to actively create the vivid, multi-

sensory images, actions, characters, and events—the reality—of
the story in his or her mind, based on the performance by the
teller and on the listener’s own past experiences, beliefs, and
understandings. The completed story happens in the mind of the
listener, a unique and personalized individual. The listener
becomes, therefore, a co-creator of the story as experienced.
Storytelling can be combined with other art forms. The fruit born
by the vital, contemporary storytelling movement includes the
development of ways to combine storytelling with drama, music,
dance, comedy, puppetry, and numerous other forms of
expression. Yet, even as it blends imperceptibly into other arts,
the essence of storytelling remains recognizable as the
intersection of the five components included in the above
definition.

Storytelling happens in many situations, from kitchen-table

conversation to religious ritual, from telling in the course of other
work to performances for thousands of paying listeners. Some
storytelling situations demand informality; others are highly
formal. Some demand certain themes, attitudes, and artistic
approaches. As noted above, the expectations about listener
interaction and the nature of the story itself vary widely.
There are many cultures on earth, each with rich traditions,
customs and opportunities for storytelling. All these forms of
storytelling are valuable. All are equal citizens in the diverse world
of storytelling.

How To Make Money On Instagram

Instagram is a free photo and video sharing app available on

iPhone and Android. People can upload photos or videos to our
service and share them with their followers or with a select
group of friends. They can also view, comment and like posts
shared by their friends on Instagram.

Instagram has nearly 180 million users in India, and the number
has grown at a steady rate in India. So naturally, many users are
increasingly looking at new ways to make money from Instagram
in India.
In July 2020, Instagram rolled out Reels in India after TikTok was
banned in the country. Reels is now available in 50+ countries, and
the platform also started placing full-screen advertisements in
Reels which can run up to 30 seconds.
If you have established yourself as a creator on Instagram, then
there are various ways in which you can monetize your presence.

Instagram allows you to earn money with the help of IGTV Ads,
Branded Content, Badges, Shopping, and Affiliate Marketing. But
creators can also earn from sponsored content, fan membership,
licensing the content they produce, and also by becoming a
consultant.

It is difficult to determine the exact revenue that a creator makes.

Still, the figures below indicate how much money some of the
most popular Instagrammers make for each sponsored post

Here you need to be specific to what niche you want to be going

into. Whether Graphic design, Website design, Copy writing,
Digital marketing, App development etc..

But you need to get a skill in the above niches mentioned. Getting
those freelance skill is quite easy this days with the help of
YouTube and other tutorial platforms
5 Ways to Make Money from Instagram in India

1. Brand Partnerships

As a content creator, you can partner with brands to

promote their products and services. Instagram has placed
some restrictions on sponsored content that you will have to
follow. Creators are not allowed to promote products like
drugs and weapons.

The average revenue you earn from sponsored content is

usually determined based on your existing follower count
and engagement rate. Both the rules created by Instagram
and new rules framed by ASCI mandate that you disclose paid
partnerships. To understand what qualifies as sponsored or
paid partnership, we recommend that you read the full list of
scenarios listed by Instagram.

2. Promote Affiliate Links

Affiliate marketing allows you to earn a commission for

promoting other companies’ products and services. As a
content creator, you can partner with brands or affiliate
marketing networks like Commission Junction to promote
various products and services relevant to your audience.
You can promote affiliate links via your bio, captions, videos,
and posts to your audience. Content creators can expect to
earn 5-15% commission on every sale. If you are confused
about which affiliate marketing programs in India will suit
your channel, we have developed a comprehensive list that
you can check out by visiting the link above.

Suppose you are new to affiliate marketing and are looking to

learn more we also have a beginner’s guide to affiliate
marketing which will be beneficial for you. Most content
creators would agree that affiliate marketing is among their
strongest channels to make money from Instagram in India.

3. Shopping

If you have a product that you want to sell on Instagram, the

platform allows you to set up a store. This requires you to
create an Instagram for business account and create a
product catalog. Once you have set up your product catalog,
you can promote it by making all your content shoppable.
You can tag products on Instagram products on the
Instagram surface. You can also organize products in
different collections.

An Instagram story of a man holding up his hand is overlaid

with Instagram Shopping’s user interface.
Instagram also provides rich insights on your store’s
performance. Instagram Shopping is only available for
managed clients in India currently. You can also promote
your store with Instagram ads in case you have your own
website. Shopping will continue to grow as one of the best
channels to make money from Instagram in India.

You can search for freelancers on LinkedIn to see example on how

they go about having an attractive profile. This will broaden your
mind on how to do yours too.

4. License photographs and videos

As a content creator, you can license your photographs and videos

to select brands. If a brand chooses to use your photograph or
videos, they are obligated to pay you a fee to use them.

But this is clearly a very complicated domain, and the recent

policy changes that Instagram has made only complicate it
further. The platform’s terms clearly state that they have a non-
exclusive, fully paid and royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable,
worldwide license to use user’s content. This means Instagram has
all the rights from the original content owner – aside from it being
not an exclusive license.
If you register your content under creative commons, this allows
people to use your work with attribution. Under creative
commons, you have different types of licenses which determine
how the image can be used.

Since your profile gives the customer first impression about you,
your profile page has to be unique.

5. Consulting

As an influencer, you can share your knowledge and expertise

with other content creators to help them build their audience.
Brands, small businesses, and individuals looking to optimize their
online presence on Instagram are always looking for Instagram
Consultants.

As an Instagram Consultant, you can charge $15-$50 per hour;

more experienced Instagram Consultants usually charge between
$50 and $100 per hour. As the platform grows in size, there will be
an increasing need for consultants as most creators are clueless
about how to make money from Instagram in India.

pranayam)+
(how you gonna raise your
children by emotionally)
Yoga

Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices

or disciplines which originated in ancient India. Yoga is one
of the six orthodox schools of Hindu philosophical traditions.
There is a broad variety of yoga schools, practices, and goals
in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.

The spiritual sense of the word yoga first arises in Epic

Sanskrit, in the second half of the 1st millennium BCE, and is
associated with the philosophical system presented in the
Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, with the chief aim of “uniting” the
human spirit with the Divine. The term kriyāyoga has a
grammatical sense, meaning “connection with a verb”. But the
same compound is also given a technical meaning in the Yoga
Sutras , designating the “practical” aspects of the philosophy,
i.e. the “union with the supreme” due to performance of
duties in everyday life

how you gonna raise your children by emotionally

As a parent, you have a responsibility for encouraging your child

to develop his intelligence. This means, of course, academic
intelligence—but that’s not the only type of intelligence that
matters.
Emotional intelligence (EQ) is defined as a person’s ability to
express and manage feelings appropriately while respecting the
feelings of others. It’s a set of skills that children can begin
learning at any age.

1. They validate their feelings

Kids’ responses often seem out of proportion to the
circumstances. But saying, “Calm down! It’s not a big deal,” or
“Don’t be scared. Everything will be OK,” does them a disservice.

Their feelings — no matter how dramatic they seem — are real.

Smart parents teach kids that their feelings are OK and it’s what
they do with those feelings that matters. They say things like, “It’s
OK to feel angry but it’s not OK to hit your brother.”
2. They coach them on how to manage their emotions
Successful parents don’t take responsibility for their children’s
emotions. Rather than calm them down when they’re upset or
cheer them up when they’re sad, they give their kids the tools
they need to regulate their own emotions.
They proactively help them identify the coping skills that work for
them. While coloring might be a good way for one child to cope
with feeling sad another child may feel better by listening to
music.

3. They let them make mistakes

Even though it’s tough to watch a child mess up, smart parents
turn mistakes into learning opportunities. Mistakes—and the
natural consequences that come from them — can be life’s
greatest teacher.

Whether a child forgets to pack his water bottle, or he waits until

the last minute to do his science fair project, smart parents don’t
bail their kids out. Instead, they help their kids learn how to do
better in the future

4. They problem-solve together

Whether their kids forget to do their chores or they’re struggling
with their grades, smart parents involve kids in problem-solving.
They ask questions like, “What would help you be more
responsible?” and they develop a plan together.
That doesn’t mean they don’t give them consequences — they
certainly do. But their discipline is focused on teaching them to do
better next time, rather than shaming them for falling short of
their goals.

5. They allow their kids to feel uncomfortable

Smart parents give their kids chances to practice their skills by
allowing them to feel uncomfortable. That doesn’t mean they
expose them to harsh circumstances just to toughen them up, but
it does mean they let them feel bored, disappointed, and
frustrated sometimes.
And rather than help them “not feel scared,” they encourage their
kids to “be brave.” Their kids gain confidence in their ability to
tolerate being uncomfortable and they learn that they can do
things they don’t feel like doing.

( Gender stereotype)
Gender stereotype

Girls’ self-esteem, ambition and expectations are the first victims

of gender stereotypes. Therefore, eradicating clichés and their
associated behaviours should be a priority for any society and
should begin in schools. Some initiatives advocate introducing
female role models into the classroom as a first step.

WHAT IS A GENDER STEREOTYPE AND WHAT CONSEQUENCES

DOES IT HAVE
Gender stereotype “is a generalised view or preconception about
attributes, or characteristics that are or ought to be possessed by
women and men or the roles that are or should be performed by
men and women”. A gender stereotype is therefore harmful when
it limits the capacity of women and men to develop their personal
attributes or professional skills and to take decisions about their
lives and plans.
Gender stereotypes affect girls around the world regardless of
their country’s level of development and are encouraged by
society at large, from parents to teachers.
It has very detrimental consequences for girls from a very early
age reducing their aspirations and limiting their career options.
Girls begin to feel less intelligent than boys from the age of six.
“Neither boys nor girls are born sexist, there is something that we
as a society do to them to make them reach that point,”

THE SOLUTION LIES IN EDUCATION

The seed of stereotypes is sown in education, and education is

where the solution lies. For example, curricula, textbooks and
teacher training programmes should be periodically reviewed to
ensure that gender stereotypes are not perpetuated.
Within schools, the role of teachers becomes essential when it
comes to providing quality, gender-neutral education that
promotes students’ welfare and respect for professional
standards.

Played a key role in
abolition and Sati. Fought for the rights of women.
Raja Ram Mohan Roy is known as the ‘Maker of Modern
India’. He was the founder of the Brahmo Samaj, one of the
first Indian socio-religious reform movements. He played a
major role in abolishing the role of Sati. Raja Rammohan Roy
was a great scholar and an independent thinker. He advocated
the study of English, Science, Western Medicine and
Technology. He was given the title ‘Raja’ by the Mughal
Emperor.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy was born on May 22, 1772 in village
Radhanagar in the District of Hooghly in Bengal. His father
Ramkanto Roy, was a Vaishnavite, while his mother, Tarini,
was from a Shakta background. Raja Ram Mohun Roy was
sent to Patna for higher studies. By the age of fifteen, Raja
Rammohun Roy had learnt Bangla, Persian, Arabic and
Sanskrit.

Raja Ram Mohan Roy was against idol worship and orthodox
Hindu rituals. He stood firmly against all sort of social
bigotry, conservatism and superstitions. But his father was an
orthodox Hindu Brahmin. This led to differences between
Raja Ram Mohan Roy and his father. Following differences
he left the house . He wandered around Himalayas and went
to Tibet. He traveled widely before returning home.

After his return Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s family married him
in the hope that he would change. But this did not have any
effect on him. Raja Ram Mohan Roy went to Varanasi and
studied the Vedas, the Upanishads and Hindu philosophy
deeply. When his father died in 1803 he returned to
Murshidabad. He then worked as a moneylender in Calcutta,
and from 1809 to 1814, he served in the Revenue Department
of the East India Company.

In 1814, Raja Ram Mohan Roy formed Atmiya Sabha.

Atmiya Sabha tried to initiate social and religious reforms in
the society. Raja Ram Mohan Roy campaigned for rights for
women, including the right for widows to remarry, and the
right for women to hold property. He actively opposed Sati
system and the practice of polygamy.

He also supported education, particularly education of

women. He believed that English-language education was
superior to the traditional Indian education system, and he
opposed the use of government funds to support schools
teaching Sanskrit. In 1822, he founded a school based on
English education.

In 1828, Raja Ram Mohan Roy founded the ‘Brahma Samaj’.

Through ‘Brahma Samaj, he wanted to expose the religious
hypocrisies and check the growing influence of Christianity
on the Hindu society. Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s efforts bore
fruit when in 1829, the Sati system was abolished.
In November 1830 Ram Mohan Roy traveled to the United
Kingdom as an ambassador of the Mughal emperor to plead
for his pension and allowances. Raja Ram Mohan Roy passed
away on September 27, 1833 at Stapleton near Bristol due to
meningitis.
