7
House Of Instrumentation
& Automation
The ECS-700 is a system with outstanding expandability and openness. It’s easy to expand system
capacity by adding control node, operation node and system tag. The ECS-700 system can be
connected to third-party system via Profibus, Modbus, OPC, etc., and supports connection with Plant
information management network based on standard Ethernet.
SC net

The process control network SCnet connects operation nodes and control nodes such as engineer
station, operator station and data server, and transfers real-time data and operation commands among
operation nodes and control nodes. It is characterized by high-speed, reliability and stability:

⚫ Support 1:1 redundancy configuration; A# and B # redundant networks working

synchronously without switching time.

⚫ Adopt domain decomposition design to divide control domain and operation domain, so as
to realize not only data sharing but also data isolation, and to prevent Net-storm and ensure
system’s reliability.

⚫ Support several network topology architectures; flexibility decompose process control

network and unify process information network.

⚫ Real-time data transmission is realized by timing mechanism for stable data flow.

⚫ Transferred data is of single type and low flow rate.

⚫ Controller has built-in firewall to isolate fault and irrelevant data.

⚫ Multi-level data validation mechanism is applied to data transmission to ensure data’s

accuracy.

⚫ Fault diagnosis software supports real-time monitoring and alarm on status of network and
node.

⚫ The process control network SCnet is based on 10/100Mbps industrial Ethernet, and supports
a variety of topology architectures (such as bus topology, star topology, and ring topology)
with maximum transmission distance of 20km with OF cable.

I/O bus

I/O bus includes local I/O bus (L-BUS) and extended I/O bus (E-BUS).The L-BUS is mainly used for
connecting controller or I/O link module to I/O module; The E-BUS is mainly used to connect controller
to communication interface module (such as I/O link module, PROFIBUS communication module, serial
communication module, etc.). Both E-BUS and L-BUS support redundancy. The E-BUS is based on 100M
industrial Ethernet with maximum transmission distance of 20km.

SYSTEM HARDWARE

Engineer station (ES)

(a) Features of engineer station

The engineer station is a maintenance platform for system configuration and programming. It
consists of chief engineer station and extended engineer station. One set of system shall be
equipped with at least one chief engineer station to save configuration data of the whole system.
With this chief engineer station, operations such as multi-configuration, configuration publishing,
configuration synchronization, configuration backup and configuration recovery can be
implemented. Generally, the chief engineer station is provided with hard-disk imaging to enhance
safety of configuration data. While working in a multi-domain mode that requires cooperation of
several engineers for configuration, extended engineer station can be provided. The extended
engineer station can provide functions such as hardware configuration, tag configuration and
programming for single or multi-domain.

The engineer station is provided with corresponding system configuration software and system
maintenance tool:

➢ The system configuration software is used to create application system suitable for
production process. It can create, download and edit graphics and control algorithm;

➢ The system maintenance tool can be used for debugging of process control network, fault
diagnosis and signal calibration.

Besides, the engineer station is installed with real-time HMI software so that it can be performed
as a normal operation station.
Operator station (OS)
(a) Features of operator station

The operator station is a human-machine-interface for monitoring, and operating the production
process. The operator station obtains real-time data directly from the control station, and displays
real-time/history data dynamically by means of graphics and trend chart. Operator sends operation
9
House Of Instrumentation

command to the control station via dedicated peripherals connected to the operator station such as
mouse and keyboard.

The operator station is installed with real-time HMI software of the ECS-700 system. It supports high-
resolution wide-screen display and multi-screen display. In addition, it can provide monitoring
interfaces of graphics, trend chart, data summary, alarm window, control grouping, operation
faceplate and system status information. From the operator station, process information and
event/alarm information can be obtained for use in real-time controlling of field devices. The operator
station can provide multimedia tone and output alarms by using printer. Besides, trends can be viewed
and reports can be printed out from the history database.

The operator station consists of console, operator keyboard, air circuit breaker and AC switching
device. The operator keyboard provides general adjustment buttons and custom function buttons.

Controller FCU712-S11
(a) Features of controller

As the core of control station, FCU712-S11 executing the configurable control strategy which based
on process application relevant, to accomplish the control task such as continuous control,
sequence control and logic control. Meanwhile, FCU712-S11 also takes the responsibility of data
acquisition, algorithms, diagnosis and communication etc.

FCU712-S11 supports more than 200 regular function blocks which can be used for continuous
control, sequence control and logic control etc. Even more, FCU712-S11 has embedded advanced
control algorithms such as predictive functional control (PFC), fuzzy logic control, SMITH controller
etc. which will enhance the engineering efficiency greatly in user applications developing.

FCU712-S11 support two kinds of scan period: Fast scan period and Standard scan period.

In the fast scan period, scanning time is 20ms or 50ms selectable. In case of logic control which
needs fast response, the fast scan period should be selected. Meanwhile, for modulation controls,
FCU712-S11 provides a standard scan period with a scanning time of 100ms.

The FCU712-S11 can equip as dual redundant, each FCU712-S11 has three CPU, two working for
input/output data communication and one for control algorithms. Both FCU712-S11 executing the
control algorithms simultaneously and synchronously, meanwhile, a self-diagnostic check is
performing in each FCU712-S11 every cycle, for continuously monitoring the status of RAM, RTC,
communication interface port and health status each other. In case of active card failure, a seamless
switchover can be carried out without any interruption in the process controlling.

FCU712-S11 has a fault-tolerant & fail-safe design, in case of input channel failure, the input process
value can be maintaining or upper/lower range values as configured, if the communications
between FCU712-S11 and output modules has been lost, the output value will be maintain or switch
to a preset value.

11
House Of Instrumentation
& Automation
System support I/O modules dual redundant configuration. Each I/O module has redundant power
supply and communication port. The redundant I/O modules continuously monitoring the health
status of each other and a bump less transfer will take place in case of failure, so as to ensure that
process controlling is executed continuously in fault-free module.

All I/O modules support hot swapping and plug-and-play. System support hardware auto-scanning,
after a replacement I/O module has been installed, the controller starts an initialization route
automatically, In case of new-added module the initialization route will performed by means of
configuration online uploading and downloading.

The I/O module provides self-diagnosis, which including power-on and running status. User can obtain
module status/diagnosis information by means as follows: LED indication on module’s plate, diagnosis
page of HMI and detailed fault message in device management software.

The output module supports fail safe protection, so that output can be maintained or set as preset
value according to configuration when system communication fails to ensure the safety of personnel,
process system or equipment’s. The analog module supports over-range measuring or over-range
output, so that it’s easy to calibrate field device. The analog input module can distinguish between
input signal over-range or transmitter failure, and display them in fault diagnosis in different form.

The analog module has 16 channels, while the digital module has 32 channels. Each channel of analog
input module and analog output module has independent power supply and independent A/D or D/A
converter circuit. The analog input module can provide 24VDC power (optional) for field transmitter
as loop powered.

The digital input module provides time-programmable vibration avoidance, and supports SOE
(sequence of event) function with resolution of 1ms and low-frequency pulse counting function. The
digital output module provides one-shot pulse-width output.

Isolation way of the I/O module is classified into channel-channel isolation and group isolation. The
analog module is channel-channel isolated. This means the isolation is applied between channels and
between channel and system side. The digital module is group isolated. This means the isolation is only
applied between channel and system side. Isolation methods used include magnetic isolation and
photoelectric isolation.
