Thank God in Advance

Young Adulty Ministry – October 24, 2021

When is the best time
to thank God?
When are we going to start to thank God
for the blessings and miracles in our lives?
What does the Bible say about
“Thanking in Advance?”
John 15:14-15
This is the confidence we have in
approaching God, that if we ask
anything to His will, He hears us.
15 And if we know He hears us—
whatever we ask— we know that
we have what we asked of Him.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is confidence in what
we hope for, and assurance about
what we do not see.
Mark 11:24
Now faith is confidence in what
we hope for, and assurance about
what we do not see.
Why does the Lord want us
to thank Him in advance?

It’s the highest form of faith.
Genesis 17
15 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call
her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.
16 I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that
she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”
17 Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born
to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?”
18 And Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!”
19 Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will
call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting
covenant for his descendants after him.
Romans 4
18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of
many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as
good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s
womb was also dead.
20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but
was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised.

21 Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
22 A Gentile woman who lived there came to Him, pleading, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son
of David! For my daughter is possessed by a demon that torments her severely.”
23 But Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. Then His disciples urged Him to send her
away. “Tell her to go away,” they said. “She is bothering us with all her begging.”
24 Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep—the people of
Israel.”
25 But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, “Lord, help me!”
26 Jesus responded, “It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.”
27 She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall
beneath their masters’ table.”
28 “Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her
daughter was instantly healed.
