ACTIVITY:

Answer each of the following questions.

1. What is the difference between qualitative and quantitative type of research?

 Quantitative studies rely on numerical or measurable data. In contrast,
qualitative studies rely on personal accounts or documents that
illustrate in detail how people think or respond within society.

2. What are the different types of sampling methods or sampling techniques? Define
each.

 There are two types of sampling methods: Probability sampling involves

random selection, allowing you to make strong statistical inferences
about the whole group. Non-probability sampling involves non-random
selection based on convenience or other criteria, allowing you to easily
collect data.

3.What is included in chapter 4 of a research paper? Explain each item briefly.

 The results or findings on the data collected and analysed. Results of

descriptive analyses. Results of inferential analyses
(Quantitative). Findings of text analyses (Qualitative).
 Result of descriptive analysis
-It is one of the most important steps for conducting statistical data
analysis. It gives you a conclusion of the distribution of your data,
helps you detect typos and outliers, and enables you to identify
similarities among variables, thus making you ready for conducting
further statistical analyses.
 Result of inferential analysis (Quntitative)
-Inferential analysis is used to generalize the results obtained from a
random (probability) sample back to the population from which the
sample was drawn.
 Finding of text analysis (Qualitative)
-Textual analysis is a broad term for various research methods used to
describe, interpret and understand texts. All kinds of information can
be gleaned from a text – from its literal meaning to the subtext,
symbolism, assumptions, and values it reveals.

4. What is included in chapter 5 of a research paper? Explain each item briefly.

 Chapter 5 SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

-Chapter 5 contains the research summary, conclusions and
recommendations of the whole study. The findings of the study without
so much detailed information is written on the summary.
 Summary
-Research summary is an academic piece of writing that describes the
findings of a research paper to a targeted audience in a brief yet concise
manner.
 Conclusions
-The conclusion of a research paper is where you wrap up your ideas
and leave the reader with a strong final impression. It has several key
goals: Restate the research problem addressed in the paper. Summarize
your overall arguments or findings.
 Recommendations
-Recommendations are arguably the most important part of the analysis
phase—this is where you'll suggest specific interventions or strategies
to address the issues and constraints identified in the assessment.
Recommendations should directly respond to key findings arrived at
through data collection and analysis.
