SELECTION OF SITE

Due to the rapid population growth and increasing number of student enrollees in university belt every year, the proposed project is preferred to
be located at the heart of the community that is in M. dela Fuente St., Sampaloc, Manila. The selected site location is a 6,164 sqm. vacant
interior lot within the university belt.

Natural Factors

According to the provided topographic map of

Typography ( Slope) Sampaloc, Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines the elevation ranges between 0 feet to 30 feet
(Figure 1) which is approximately 0% to 8% slope or
described as level to undulating.

The latest 2016 climate data of Sampaloc,

(Figure 2) and overcast then there would be oppressive
and wet year round. Average temperature
ranges from 69°F to 89°F and is rarely below
66°F or above 92°F.

The wind direstion in Sampaloc, Manila is most


often coming from the west for 1.1 weeks (June
4 - June 12) and for 3.1 months (June 20 -
Wind Direction Wind Direction for Sampaloc, Manila September 24), with a peak percentage of 63%
(Figure 3) on August 18. On the other hand, east wind
lasts for 8.3 months (September 24 - June 4)
with a peak percentage of 36% on June 14.
Cultural Factors

According to the National Building Code of the


Philippines, Rule VII, Section 701, dormitories
belongs to Group B Occupancies, Division B-
1. This means that it's principal use is to
Land Use and Zoning National Building Code of the Philippines, function as off-campus dormitory wherein it's
Rule VII, Section 701 conditional uses will be the same as in R-1 and
R-2. The zoning classfication for the proposed
dormitory is identified as Residential R-3 which
is defined as "a high-density residential use or
occupancy, characterized mainly as low-rise or
medium-rise building/structure for exclusive
use as multiple family dwellings with mixed
housing types."

The selected site is specifically situated in


Barangay 418, Sampaloc Manila. As it shows
Demographics Population Density in Sampaloc, Manila in figure 4, the density is 80,113 per square
(Figure 4) kilometer. As of 2015 Population Census,
Barangay 418 has a population of 2,997 while
the whole Sampaloc, Manila has a total
population of 375, 119.
