BACKGROUND

Farmers in Binga are not yielding enough products from their fields due to poor quality of soils .the teacher has tasked learners to test ph. of
different soil in their community and advice farmers on crops to grow in their fields

OBJECTIVES

By the end of the cala learners should be able to

Identify acids bases and neutral substances

Test nature of substances ( in soil)

State the ph of each soil collected

Suggest crops to be grown in different soil tested

THE CALA CONSIST OF THREE PARTS A,B AND C

PART A

Collect at least 5 samples of soil from different fields (5)

Test using the correct solution, the nature of each soil collected 10
Part B

State the pH of each soil and naming if it is an acidic, basic or neutral 5

Suggest any two crops that can be grown in each soil collected (6)

Marking guide

Collecting at least 5 or more 5 marks

Testing each sample of soil 10 marks

Stating pH naming the nature of each soil 5marks

At least two crops suggested on the each soil type 6
