“Reflection”

What kind of a leader am I? What should I do to become an effective leader?

Everybody has a great leader they look up to, whether it's because they inspire them with their
style or because they exhibit strong leadership. Who am I as a leader? Each of us possesses
a unique set of abilities that defines the type of leader we are. The key is whether or not we
can use them to lead others in the best possible way. I enjoy seeing different political leaders
from other countries. I like discovering how leadership influences a country's rise and demise.
As a Filipino, I am proud of the democratic values that this country has kept over the years. I
think of myself as a more democratic leader. I developed my delegation skills while serving as
a leader in a senior high school even now. I refrained from dominating conversations. When
there was an activity I listened to the contributions of all the member whether or not I agreed
with their opinions. Both the advantages and disadvantages of democracy must be challenging.
Both sides are in balance with one another. It would not be healthy if all members were on the
same side because it is probable that side might be incorrect. Additionally, it keeps people
from learning from various viewpoints that could enlighten one another. I always acknowledge
both sides of the debate when I serve as the leader. In order to allow individuals with different
points of view an opportunity to present their cases, I change participants every so often.
Finally, while assigning work, I make sure that everyone is treated properly regardless of who
they belong to or support.

I need to be highly self-aware in order to be truly effective leaders. To lead myself first, I must
be aware of my strengths and blind spots. Only then can I help my team connect their
objectives with the big vision. Keep a positive attitude and teach the team or a members instead
of giving orders.
