SKILL AREA: FSD Communications: Mobile Phone

OBJECTIVE: Initiate the response to a reported emergency, given the report of an emergency,
FSD standard operating procedures and communications equipment, so that all necessary
information is obtained, communications equipment is operated correctly, and the information is
relayed promptly and accurately to the dispatch authority.

Receive a telephone call, given a fire department phone, so that procedures for answering the
phone are used and the caller’s information is relayed.

PREPARATION AND EQUIPMENT: FSD Mobile Phone, PPE appropriate for the skill, Recording
equipment(pen, notepads, boards, etc), FSD Fire emergency procedure and simulated
emergency situation.

PERFORMANCE OUTCOME: The FSD personnel/trainee shall be able to properly answer a mobile
phone, ensuring that the proper procedures for answering are used and the caller’s information
is relayed.

OBJECTIVE: FSD Firefighter will demonstrate the ability to don personal protective clothing and
doff personal protective clothing.

PREPARATION AND EQUIPMENT: Coat, Pants, Hood, Helmet, Gloves and Boots

PERFORMANCE OUTCOME: FSD Firefighter shall be able to properly don personal protective
clothing within a reasonable amount of time and to prepare the personal protective clothing for
reuse.
