1. What are the challenges you encountered in the modular classes during
the school year 2020-2021 and school year 2021-2022?
The Covid-19 pandemic has indeed brought us a lot of challenges.
One of the most affected sectors of our society is the education. It offered a
paradigm shift from face-to-face interaction to the virtual interactions
among students, teachers, and other stakeholders of the school.
Thus, as a teacher, the shortcomings that I have encountered is the
hindrance towards effective teaching learning process. I couldn’t teach the
concepts, theories, and laws in my subjects to my students because they
weren’t able to be here in school. On the other hand, I have had a hard time
coping up with the printing of modules. There were times when my printer
malfunctioned. Furthermore, I also had a difficulty in assessing the output
of the students because I couldn’t know if they were the ones who are
honestly answering their modules at home.

2. How did you address the challenges?

Despite having a bunch of challenges over the course of this modular
distance learning mandated by the Department of Education to still provide
quality education amidst this pandemic; it has been full of worthwhile
learning experiences for me as a teacher. I have tried to solve those
problems by connecting to parents. I also printed modules and distributed it
in a carousel method. I made weekly home learning plans as well as
individual learning plans for my students.

3. What are your plans and recommendations to resolve the challenges you
encountered?
We cannot deny the fact that there is really a need for the face-to-face
modality between the teachers and the learners. However, due to the
different strains of the virus, the covid cases has risen. The Department of
Education is prohibited from carrying out the said learning scenarios. As a
teacher my plan is to improve my competence in teaching for me to become
effective with the advent of this disruptive virus. I need to think of ways as
to where I can be able to deliver my lessons well through these self-learning
modules provided to students. Moreover, when it comes to the
recommendations I should suggest, I am hoping that the Department of
Education will continuously provide mobile data to the sim cards given to
the teachers so that it will be easy for us to communicate with each other
and to the students also. I am assuming provision of enough supply of bond
papers and inks for the printing of modules and other teaching materials
that we will be using.
