WHO AMONG YOU ALREADY ACCEPTED JESUS AS YOUR LORD?

PREPARE YOUR HEARTS, IT IS BOUND TO BREAK TONIGHT.

TEXT: LUKE 7:36-50
THEME: WHERE THERE IS WORSHIP, THERE IS BREAKTHROUGH

Extravagant Worship (EXCEEDING THE LIMTS OF NECESSITY)

36Afterward Simeon, a Jewish religious leader, asked Jesus to his home for dinner. Jesus
accepted the invitation. When he went to Simeon’s home, he took his place at the table.
37In the neighborhood there was an immoral woman of the streets, known to all to be a prostitute.
When she heard that Jesus was at Simeon’s house, she took an exquisite flask made from
alabaster, filled it with the most expensive perfume, went right into the home of the Jewish
religious leader, and in front of all the guests, she knelt at the feet of Jesus.
38Broken and weeping, she covered his feet with the tears that fell from her face. She kept crying
and drying his feet with her long hair. Over and over, she kissed Jesus’ feet. Then, as an act of
worship, she opened her flask and anointed his feet with her costly perfume.
39When Simeon saw what was happening, he thought, “This man can’t be a true prophet. If he
were really a prophet, he would know what kind of sinful woman is touching him.”
40Jesus said, “Simeon, I have a word for you.”
“Go ahead, Teacher. I want to hear it,” he answered.
41“It’s a story about two men who were deeply in debt. One owed the bank one hundred thousand
dollars, and the other only owed ten thousand dollars.
42When it was obvious that neither of them would be able to repay their debts, the kind banker
graciously wrote off the debts and forgave them all that they owed. Tell me, Simeon, which of the
two debtors would be more thankful? Which one would love the banker most?”
43Simeon answered, “I suppose it would be the one with the greater debt forgiven.” “You’re right,”
Jesus agreed.
44Then he spoke to Simeon about the woman still weeping at his feet.
“Do you see this woman kneeling here? She is doing for me what you didn’t bother to do. When I
entered your home as your guest, you didn’t think about offering me water to wash the dust off my
feet. Yet she came into your home and washed my feet with her many tears and then dried my
feet with her hair.
45You didn’t even welcome me into your home with the customary kiss of greeting, but from the
moment I came in she has not stopped kissing my feet.
46You didn’t take the time to anoint my head with fragrant oil, but she anointed my head and feet
with the finest perfume.
47She has been forgiven of all her many sins. This is why she has shown me such extravagant
love. But those who assume they have very little to be forgiven will love me very little.”
48Then Jesus said to the woman at his feet, “All your sins are forgiven.”
49All the dinner guests said among themselves, “Who is the one who can even forgive sins?”
50Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith in me has given you life. Now you may leave and
walk in the ways of peace.”

- “Go ahead, Teacher. I want to hear it,” he answered.
- DO NOT GET USED TO BEING OVER PRIVILEGED

 WHO IS THIS SINFUL WOMAN?

- IMMORAL
- OF THE STREETS// BASICALLY NOTHING
- KNOWN TO ALL AS A PROSTITUTE
- BORE THE SHAME, THE ACCUSATION JUST TO WORSHIP JESUS
- IN HIS PRESENCE SHAME IS SILENT
- HOW MUCH OF YOURSELF CAN YOU SACRIFICE FOR JESUS TO NOT
JUST COMPROMISE?

d. Pwede nang damo na kayo kag nasabtan, pero gamay ra kag nakinabuhi
e. Pwede nang damo na kayo kag napugas, pero gamay ra kag naani

KAY NGANO MAN?

KAY BASIG WA NIMO TRATOHA UG AYO SI JESUS SA IMONG KINABUHI.

AT THAT TIME, JESUS WAS SPENT ALL DAY MINISTERING TO THE PEOPLE.
HE CAME TO HAVE DINNER WITH SIMON.
BUT SIMON DID NOT DO THE THINGS WHICH WERE CUSTOMARY IN HAVING SOMEONE
IN THEIR HOME.
-FOOT WASHING
-KISSING
-OIL
Jesus has been constantly working in our lives. And what did we offer to him in return?
Letting Jesus in our lives is one thing, HOW WE TREAT JESUS WHILE HAVING HIM IN OUR
LIVES, is another.

What have you done for Jesus?

NOT A SERVICE ACTIVITY, NOT A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY, NOT A CONGREGATIONAL

ACTIVITY, BUT A PERSONAL ACTIVITY.

What does God say in this woman’s testimony?

37In the neighborhood there was an immoral woman of the streets, known to all to be a prostitute.
When she heard that Jesus was at Simeon’s house, she took an exquisite flask made from
alabaster, filled it with the most expensive perfume, went right into the home of the Jewish

1. Approach Jesus.
-Saying YES to Jesus does not mean saying NO to everything.
-Jesus knows you. THE REAL YOU. YOU CAN BE REAL WITH JESUS.
- YOU NEED TO BE IN PROXIMITY FOR YOU TO EXPERIENCE INTIMACY.
- DI SI LORD ANG LAYO, IKAW ANG MILAYO.
-SHE BORE THE SHAME, GUILT, BUT CAME AT THE FEET OF JESUS ANYWAY.
- AYG SIG BARE MINIMUM
-WHEN SHE APPROACHED JESUS, EVERY HIGH THING (PRIDE) CAMDE
DOWN FOR HER. SHE APPROACHED HER DELIVERANCE. HER SAFE PLACE.
HER HOME. ONE WHO ACCEPTS HER FOR ALL THAT SHE IS.

38Broken and weeping, she covered his feet with the tears that fell from her face. She kept crying
and drying his feet with her long hair. Over and over, she kissed Jesus’ feet. Then, as an act of
worship, she opened her flask and anointed his feet with her costly perfume.
2. Identify what needs to be broken in your life.
-What you can’t identify, you can’t demolish.
-THE DEVIL WILL TRY TO BLIND YOU. DECEIVE YOU.
-IF THE ENEMY CANNOT COMPEL YOU TO SIN, HE WILL COMPEL YOU TO DO
NOTHING.
-2 CAUSES OF BROKENNESS IN YOUR LIFE
ONE FROM GOD (MOLDING SEASON)
ONE FROM THE ENEMY (STEAL, KILL, DESTROY)
44Then he spoke to Simeon about the woman still weeping at his feet.
“Do you see this woman kneeling here? She is doing for me what you didn’t bother to do. When I
entered your home as your guest, you didn’t think about offering me water to wash the dust off my
feet. Yet she came into your home and washed my feet with her many tears and then dried my

45You didn’t even welcome me into your home with the customary kiss of greeting, but from the
moment I came in she has not stopped kissing my feet.
46You didn’t take the time to anoint my head with fragrant oil, but she anointed my head and feet
with the finest perfume.
3. Place yourself at the feet of Jesus.
-Do not allow momentary event replace your permanent place where you can get
intimate with Jesus
-Don’t be over dependent on your leaders
- DON’T PLACE YOURSELF TO WRONG PLACES. DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO
BE VULNERABLE TO THE ENEMY.

CONCLUSION:
-What is your alabaster jar?
-When you really love something, you give.
-What are the things that you allow to be in competition with Jesus in your life?
-What takes most of your time?
-Talking about Jesus and Talking to Jesus are two different things!
-BEING LOST IS JUST A SEASON.
-JEREMIAH 29:11 CONTEXT- ABOUT OT GO 70 YEARS IN EXILE BUT THEIR
FUTURE IS ALREADY ASSURED.
