Gift Card & Voucher


Data Entry Type
Customer Requirements

• The Customer wants a Gift Card (of any denomination) to be


issued and paid with at the POS. In other words, a Gift Card can
be sold as an item as well as accepted as a mode of payment

• The Customer wants a Voucher (worth the change amount in a


sales transaction) to be issued and paid with at the POS. In other
words, a Voucher can be issued as Credit Memo as well as
accepted as a mode of payment
Gift Card
• Usually paper based, but also a preprinted (plastic) card can be used

• When printed, using a template, along with the sales receipt

• The amount on the card may be redeemed over multiple transactions


Gift Card - Components
• A Data Entry Type
• Two Infocodes linked with the Data Entry Type
 To sell the gift card
 To redeem the gift card

• An Income Account or an item linked with the infocode used for selling
• A Tender Type linked with the infocode used for redeeming
• Two POS Buttons (Commands)
 Income Account/ Item
 Tender Type
Data Entry Type – Gift Card

• Must be numbered, either


automatically or a number series

• May have a barcode

• May have an expiry date

• Must use certain validation


routines during redemption
 The card is registered

 The outstanding amount


Infocode – Create Data Entry

• Special Type used for a gift


card sale

• Input Required must be


enabled

• Linked with the Data Entry

Income Account

• While being sold the Gift Card


generates a liability income

• Usually an income like this

• A template, used to print the


gift card on the receipt

• Must be linked with the

• Points to the income account

Exercise

1. Buy a gift card worth GBP 100 from Store 1


2. Buy item(s) worth GBP 50 in Store 2 and pay with the gift card
3. Buy item(s) worth GBP 70 in Store 1 and use the gift card first
Voucher
• Issued during a sales refund

• Printed, using a template, along with the sales receipt

• The amount on the voucher may be redeemed over multiple transactions
