Infocodes
Customer Requirement's
• Sport Brothers want to be able to:
– Register their Customers:
• Postcode to see where they come from and where they
heard of the new store
• Reasons for returning items
– Reason for discounts at the POS, if the Cashier is
giving the Customer additional discounts
Infocodes
• Infocodes are used to add extra information to the
POS sales, as for example:
– Reasons why the:
• Customer is returning an item
• Cashier is giving a discount
• Cashier is Voiding a Transaction
– Additional information or survey like:
• Postcode
• Age
• Gender
• Information can be viewed and used for statistic or
other controls
Infocode Setup
• Infocodes are of different Type
• The Type defines the kind of input
required
• Type Selection requires setup of
Selection Subcodes
Input Infocodes
If the Infocode type requires input, the POS terminal validates
the input keyed in or code selected and checks its value
according to the type
Date: The input must be in valid date format
Numeric: The input must be numeric
Customer: The input must be a customer on file at the POS terminal
Staff: The input must be a valid Staff ID
Text: The input must be text
Input Infocodes - Text
Example Post Code Survey
• The Type is Text Input
• The Display Option is Alphabetic
Pad (the cashier types in the post
code on a keyboard)
• Once Per Transaction should be
marked
• Random Factor % can be defined
Assigning Infocode on POS Button
• Use POS Command INFO_K
to run the infocode when a
button on the POS is
pressed

• The command can either be


set up as Command or Post
Command
Exercise
1. Create an Input Infocode for Postcode Survey and
add it as a Post Command on the Total button
2. On the POS sell some items and finish the sale with
cash. Does the system ask for the Postcode when
Total is pressed?
Infocodes – Type Selection
• Infocodes with a number of
predefined inputs
– The predefined inputs are set up on
fast tab Selection subcodes

• The user only needs to select the


appropriate code as response
• The Type is Selection
• Display Option can either be Pop-
up or Lookup

• If the Input is Required it is mandatory for the cashier to select a


code
Exercise
1. Create 3 new Selection Infocodes:
Return Reasons Where heard
• Defected • In the Newspaper
• Outdated • On the Internet
• Disliked • From a friend
• Other • Other
Discount Reasons
• Defected item
• Friend
• Other

2. Test the new Infocodes in the POS by adding the infocodes


on buttons using command INFO_K
Assigning Infocode to a POS Action
• POS Actions allow the POS to run some “actions ”
based on typical POS events
• You can for example assign an Infocode to the Action
Trigger, “Refund Sales”
Exercise
1. Assign the Refund Reason infocode to a POS Action
Refund Sales

2. Assign the Discount Reason Infocode to a POS


Action where it will be run when giving total and
line discounts
3. Test the above setups in the POS
• Do a Refund sale
• Do a sale with line discount 10%
• Did the infocodes appear automatically in the POS?
Infocode linking
• You can link an Infocode to another Infocode
• For the first Infocode in use enter the linked infocode
into the field Linked Infocode
• Example: After the Post Code Infocode another
Infocode for asking the customer where he heard of
the new Store, is run
Exercise
1. Link the Where heard Infocode to the Post Code
Infocode
2. In POS do a sale and use button with infocode Post
Code. Did the Where heard Infocode appear as
well?
Linking Infocode to a Selection
• You can also link another infocode to a selection
• Example: If the cashier is giving Customer a discount at the
POS and the reason is not a defect item or a friend so the
cashier selects the “Other” selection we can link another
infocode which opens a keyboard where the cashier must key
in the reason
Exercise
1. Create a new text infocode where the Cashier needs
to type in the Discount Reason
2. Assign the Infocode to the “Other” selection on the
Discount Reason Code
Infocode Entries
Transaction Infocode entries
• Can be viewed from the Infocode, fast tab Navigate, Action
Transaction Entries
• Can be viewed by running a report, 99001490 Retail Sales by
Infocodes
Infocodes with Trigger Function
Selection Infocodes can also have a Trigger Function
such as:
• Item
• Create an Item line with a particular Item
• Discount Group
• Add an Infocode Discount Group to the Item line
• VAT Business Posting Group
• Change VAT bus. Posting Group on the line
• Run NAV Objects
• Report, Form....
Function Trigger - Item
Example:
• When we sell a Silver Chain so the customer can choose the
length of the chain length
• The Unit of measure is 1 Centimeter and the price is 10
Function Trigger - Item
The Infocode Chain has three selections for the same item
• Subcodes have trigger Function as Item
• Each line has its own Qty. per Unit of Measure
Function Trigger - Item
We link the Infocode to the Necklace Item
Function Trigger - Item
• When we sell the Necklace Item on the POS the
Infocode Pops up
• When we have selected the chain length the chain item
is added to the POS Journal
Cross-selling infocodes
• Cross-selling is in fact infocode with item function
trigger
• The Cross-Selling form is for simplifying the setup and
includes only information and settings related to that
