REPORT FROM USO/EMURE-ILE ARCHDEACONRY

INTRODUCTION

All glory must be to the Lord, for He is worthy of our praise, no man on earth should
give glory to himself, all the glory must be to the Lord.

To him only we the entire member of Uso/Emure-ile Archdeaconry give our


appreciation for another Owo Diocesan Synod is here with us. The 1st session of the 14th
synod of Owo Diocese.

We rejoice with our ever positive, dynamic, progressive minded, very articulate,
Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev’d Dr Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi and our ever supportive and
spiritual mother, Mrs. Florence EbunOluwa Fagbemi for the rear grace given to us to
celebrate this Synod. We pray that throughout our stay in the synod, God will spread over us
His banner of love and protection in Jesus name. Amen.

We thank the Lord Bishop and Mama Owo on behalf of the entire member of the
Archdeaconry board and all members of Uso/Emure-ile Archdeaconry. Particularly the
member of St. Andrew Church, Uso for your Episcopal love in gift and kindness shown unto
us in the Archdeaconry. Your anointing will never lack the needed oil for break through and
Joy in Jesus name. Amen.

The Rev & Mrs. E.M Olokungboye of St. Peters Church Kajola is on retirement leave
While Mr. Sola Balogun had resumed at St. Peters Church Kajola to replace him

WORSHIP AND EVANGELISM


God Almighty remains faithful to His word that if He is being lifted up on earth, He will
draw men to himself. He manifest for good in our corporate worship in each of the parishes.
a. Matins: Our Worship service both in English and Yoruba continues to experience the
blessings of God. English service starts by 7:45am at St. Andrews Church Uso, while
the Yoruba service in the Archdeaconry starts by 10:00am every Sunday
b. Anointing service/Morning Prayer: Takes place every Monday morning. The
programme is been attended by many.
Ajumogbadura Morning Prayer conducted by Priests and Lay members is
being attended by committed members.
c. Weekly Communion Service/ Visitation to Aged: In line with the Diocesan directive,
the Wednesday mid-week Holy Communion service is held between 5:00-6:00pm.
Aged members are always being visited at home with communion element called
“Aged food”.
d. Evangelism: Our evangelism strategy is okay in the Archdeaconry. This in a way is
helping to revive the existing Churches and, new Churches emerged in line with the
Diocesan directive to grow the existing Churches and come up with new ones. We
have new Anglican Church Eporo road and New Anglican Church Olorunsogo
Ajegunle both in Emure-ile among the emerging new Churches. Members are being
visited at home and abroad to seek their welfare.
e. Good Morning Jesus: A 3-days monthly indoor revival programme is being blessed
with good attendance. Monthly new month crossover vigil is always well attended by
members.
f. Bible Study: We had weekly Bible study in nearly, all the Churches in the
Archdeaconry on Tuesday while, some have theirs on Thursdays. The adult Sunday
school teachers meet every 5:00pm Saturday evening to preview the next Sunday
study. The coordinator is Rev. John Jonathan. We commend the effort of these
teachers.

WOMEN WORK
The women in the Archdeaconry under the leadership of Mrs. Ruth Bosede Omotade and all
other workers wives are very active and supportive in their participation in all Archdeaconry
and Diocesan programmes.

Women organization meeting holds regularly with encouraging attendance in each of


the parishes. Also Mothers Union and Young Wives meeting hold at St. Andrews Church
Uso and Emure-ile, while Uso Township Mother’s Union prayer meetings, talks, Health
watch, seminars and visitation among others are programme that holds regularly among
women in the Archdeaconry.

Business projects are equally embarked upon in each parish to aid the financial
strength of the women organization in the parish and Archdeaconry.

YOUTH WORK AND CHILDREN MINISTRY


The youth meet every week for bible study in each of the parishes in the Archdeaconry,
monthly vigils at the Archdeaconry level. Last Sunday of the month worship is anchored by
the youth. Diocesan youth programmes and competition are well attended with prize won.
CHILDREN SUNDAY SCHOOL
The worship life of the Children is highly commendable. The children teachers are up to the
task. The Church of Nigeria children service manual is in use and gifts are being given to
commend good performance.
We commend the effort of the able teachers of the Children, women organization of
the Church and the Church members, who always support the children ministry with gifts
both financial and kind, may God bless you all in Jesus name. Amen

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT & PROJECTS


ST ANDREWS USO

We are grateful to God for the physical and spiritual development of the Church of God.
in the year under review. Among such are:
Construction work on going with the duplex vicarage building, now awaiting decking
work
The children Sunday school building being finance by late Mr. & Chief (Mrs)
Abegunde’s children is now at the roofing stage with about 100, 9inches blocks to get
to level.
The rentable twin two bedroom flat is now installed with burglary proofs and the two
iron doors installed, the asbestos logging are installed, now awaiting asbestos work
and plastering
A set of white choir robs was purchased
Tiling of one room, toilet and bathroom of the old vicarage
Replacement of the rug in the Church alter and choir stall
Installation of two new Mable reading desk and chair.

OUR SAVIOUR CHURCH, EMURE-ILE


We give thanks to the Almighty God for the progress recorded on the projects ongoing in the
Church. The event Hall Building financed by the Omotoso family is about 90% completion
level, now awaiting the painting. The second event Hall building financed by the Fabuluje
family had been roofed while the new vicarage work has its roof completed. The collapsed
right hand side gutter of the Church building had been replaced as approved by the Lord
Bishop.

ST. JAMES CENTENARY CHURCH


To God be the glory great things He is doing in our midst. Effort is on to re-roof the leaking
Church building and the vicarage.

ST PETERS CHURCH KAJOLA


God move in a mysterious way to perform His wonders. Thank God for the foundation of a
new Church building laid on 25th of April 2022 by the Lord Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Dr.
Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi. We thank our Lord Bishop for the handsome Diocesan and
personal donation. You and yours will always meet with helpers in life. Amen.

EBENEZER ANGLICAN CHURCH, ILARO TITUN-USO


The new Church building project is in progress, recently work is now at the lintel level. We
are trusting God for fund so as to get to the roofing stage.
ST. JOHNS CHURCH, AMURIN
We thank God for the Diocesan building engineers visit to the site of the new Church
building and their timely advice for the need to start the building work again from the
foundation. The building plan is presently undergoing the civil engineering surveying
We thank our Lord Bishop and mama Owo for their effort to fast track the project with a
donation of a load of sand and 300 pieces of 6 inches block. God bless you my Lord.

ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH, ASOLO


The new Church building is at lintel stage, the iron rod is being bought. It is now awaiting
installation as soon as fund is available

ST. BARNABAS CHURCH, EMURE-ILE


We thank God for the Episcopal visit of our Lord Bishop on the 27th March, 2022 to lay the
foundation of a new Church building and his handsome personal and Episcopal donations
during the ceremony, may God continue to bless your episcopacy.

ST. MATTHIAS CHURCH, EMURE-ILE


The Church worship centre had been moved closer to Emure-ile from Ilura. The present place
we use for worship is given by the Emure-ile community

CHRIST ANGLICAN CHURCH, USO


A landed accommodation of five plots of land is available for purchase. The Church has less
than #200,000.00 in the account. St. Andrews made the pledge of #200,000 in the support of
the Church. We therefore appeal to all well-wishers in this synod to please help us to secure
the five plots of land. We still need #400,000.00

DONATIONS
ST ANDREW’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, USO
Donation of a bungalow of twin two bedrooms flat with two boys quarters attached
and an external kitchen from Mrs Eunice EbunOluwa Ajoke Akintemi was received with
thanks. Mama, God Almighty will reward your labor of love in Jesus name.

Donation of red rug for the floor of the alter and one side of the choir stall of the
church hall by the children of Chief (Mrs) Leah Fagboyegun from US. May God continue to
bless mama and her children in Jesus name. Amen

Donation of twenty five sets of red Alter chairs by the children of Late Mrs Beactrice
Akanke Fatukasi during mama’s burial ceremony. Testimony about God’s goodness will
always be in your mouth.

Gifts of two wired microphones from the children of Late Deaconess Stella Modupe
Samuel during mama’s remembrance service, you are all blessed

The gift of two Mable reading desks and chairs by the children of Late Chief Amos
Olawumi Atandairo, during baba’s burial ceremony, may God meet you at the point of your
needs.

Handsome amount of cash gift were received from many in the period under review
particularly from the children of Late Chief Jacob Ajibola Ore, Mrs Bernice Kehinde Fadero,
may God bless all our benefactors in Jesus name.
OUR SAVIOUR CHURCH EMURE-ILE

We hereby commend all the various individual and families that donated money to the
Church in the year under review, may God bless you all in Jesus name. Amen

We appreciate God in the life of our landlord for our new Anglican church Eporo road
Emure-ile for the place of worship freely given to us for temporary use.

Mr & Mrs Ilesanmi Olotu their Parlor is being used for worship

Mr & Mrs Idowu Ajiwoye for giving temporary accommodation for our worker to use as
vicarage and daily feeding the worker up till the time of this report. May God meet you and
your wife at the point of your need in Jesus name. Amen.

So also we appreciate the Lord Bishop of Oke Osun and his siblings, The Rt. Rev.
Oluwagbenro Fabuluje for the donation of two plots of land to Olorunsogo new Anglican
Church, Emure-ile and also we appreciate High Chief & Mrs Anaun Tapere who allowed the
use of his house for temporary place of worship.

ARCHDEACONRY ACTIVITIES

WORKERS FELLOWSHIP:

A. The Church workers in the Archdeaconry meet together at least once in a month for
fellowship, to discuss the progress of work in the Archdeaconry and attend to
Diocesan information
B. ARCHDEACONRY BOARD MEETINGS: Our statutory meetings were held and
were well attended by members of the Archdeaconry board. We thank God for all
members of the host parishes for their co-operation in hosting the meeting.
C. EPIPHANY CELEBRATION: To God be the Glory for the success of the 2021
Epiphany celebration.
The candle light awareness rally was held in four centres, wearing our Ankara
uniform. At Uso by all the township Anglican churches led by Ven. & Mrs Omotade,
Emure-ile by all the Anglican township churches led by Can & Mrs Oside St. Peters
Kajola and St John’s church, Amurin by their members in their town and led by their
Priest and worker incharge respectively

The community service was jointly held at Kajola-Uso by all members of the
Archdeaconry as solidarity to complement the effort of St. Peters Church, Kajola in
other to encourage them.

The Epiphany revival was held in two centers. The first day was held at High Chief
Sunday Aro block industry compound, Uso. The remaining three days at Olorunsogo
new Anglican Church in Emure-ile to complement the effort of the new church. All
the programmes were well attended.
D. THE ASCENTION - PENTECOST SEASON
The period witnessed the first three days revival held at each parish. The last three
days of the period was used for revival in two different centres. In Uso, the Ibira
community was visited with 3 days revival and in Emure-ile at St. Matthias Emure-ile
we held three days revival in conjunction with the Archdeaconry. All the above
programmes were successful to the glory of God.
EPISCOPAL VISIT
The entire Uso/Emure-ile is grateful to the Diocesan and mama Owo, The Rt. Rev. Dr & Mrs
Stephen Ayodji Fagbemi who made their Episcopal visits to some of our Churches during the
reporting year on many occasion for over sight functions, such as Church building foundation
laying ceremony at St. Barnabas Church on 27th March 2022 and Church building foundation
laying ceremony at St. Peter Kajola – Uso, on the 5th April, 2022.

The Lord Bishop also visited Our Saviours Church Emure-ile on different occasions. St
John’s Church Amurin, St Andrews Church Uso during the women organization annual
rededication service

We are grateful to your Lordship and Mama Owo, we pray that your stay over the sea of Owo
Diocese, will know peace and progress in Jesus name. Amen

UPDATE ON RAISING THE FUTURE SUCCESSORS

Our synod theme for the past three years had always been hammering on this important issue.
It has being a continuous effort in Churches in the Archdeaconry to hammer the issue
(1) Sunday school children are always coordinated in line with Anglican Church doctrine.
(2) The youth are made to lead worship and worship in the Anglican way every Sunday
(3) Once in a month, they are brought together to lead the adult congregation
(4) Effort is made to ensure that adults members of the church encourage their children in the
diasporas to be a part of the communion.

BURIAL ISSUE: The Synod injunction about maximum limit of nighty days for burying the
dead, has come to stay, we will continue to encourage our members to please key into the
Synod injunction about the Church members who may still want to schedule their burial
programmes beyond the approved limit. We pray that God will help us, we will continue to
encourage them to comply.

CALEB PROJECT
The vision to raise an amount of one billion naira into the purse of the Diocese is a laudable
and do able project. Effort is on to encourage our members to embrace to the project
effectively

OUR JOY
We rejoice with Baba and Mama Owo, The Rt. Rev Dr. Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi and Mrs
Florence Ebunoluwa Fagbemi for all that God did through your Episcopacy in the year under
review. Particularly your marriage anniversary celebration on going as we enjoy Christ in
your life in this Synods.

We rejoice with our sons and daughters in the Archdeaconry for their various achievements
during the year under review. We congratulate those; promoted, appointed into special
offices, celebrate birthdays, whose children married, students who gained admission and who
graduated and those that dedicate new buildings. Families blessed with the fruits of the
womb. God will continue to remember us for good and testimonies in Jesus name. Amen.
OUR SORROWS
We commiserate with our members who lost their loved ones during the year under review.
May God grant them the grace to bear the loss and give them a good replacement in Jesus
name. Amen.

CONCLUSION:
We wish the Lord Bishop, Mama Owo the host of the first session of the fourteenth synod,
and the entire members of St Paul’s Church, Ifon, and all the delegates a happy Synod in
Jesus name. Amen.

EPIPHANY CELEBRATION
We thank God for the success of this year Epiphany celebration. The programmes were held
in two locations. A day Uso in readiness to relocate the Christ Anglican Church, Hezetoria to
Ajagundo Street for a more spacious accommodation. While two days were held at New
Anglican Curch Ayetoro Emure-ile, one of our new Anglican assemblies, they are waiting for
the Episcopal blessing.
As part of the celebrations, we had our township rally in four locations. All wearing
the Archdeaconry Ankara uniform

Anglicans in Uso were led by the Ven & Mrs E.O.A. Omotade, Emure-ile by Rev. Canon &
Mrs E.A. Oside, Kajola by Rev. & Mrs E.A Olokunagba and Amurin by Mr. & Mrs Joseph
Olajide.

EPISCOPAL VISIT
The entire Uso/Emure-ile is grateful to the Diocesan and mama Owo, The Rt. Rev. Dr & Mrs
Stephen Ayodji Fagbemi who made their Episcopal visits to some of our Churches during the

prayers. Our attendance in each of our meeting is always encouraging

Our meeting of the year under the review has been very fruitful. The meeting comes
up in each of the parish in rotation
