Slide 2 - Introduction

Slide notes
Welcome to this course covering positioning of the entry level RealPresence Group Series 310
video endpoint.

In this course we'll recap on the differences between the HDX and RealPresence Group Series
endpoints, and also the differences between the RealPresence Group Series themselves. We'll
also look more deeply into the RealPresence Group Series 310 specifically as an entry level
endpoint and where you can find more information.

Slide 3 - HDX vs RealPresence Group Series

Slide notes
This information has been covered in the Positioning RealPresence Room course, but just in
case you missed it, let's start with a summary of what sets the RealPresence Group Series
apart from the legacy high definition HDX Series of video endpoints. From a user point of view,
they experience 1080p 60fps people and content, the Polycom UX user interface, camera
options such as EagleEye Director and EagleEye Producer, and superior audio technology like
Acoustic Fence and NoiseBlock.

From an IT administrator's point of view, RealPresence Group Series provides interoperability

with Microsoft Lync 2013, more advanced display control including flexible screen layouts, a
much more compact form factor, increased multipoint capabilities built-in and the latest
processor, which enables future enhancements to the Group Series family at a later time.
Finally, media centers are available with displays up to a massive 84" for customers who require
a simple all-in-one collaboration solution.

Slide 4 - RealPresence Group Series Family

Slide notes
Next let's recap the RealPresence Group Series family - although we're concentrating here on
the entry level video endpoint, it's worth a look to see what the differences are. The main
differences here are that as we go up the range, we have more options for adding additional
cameras, monitors and more highly powered multipoint options to the room solution required.

Slide 5 - RealPresence Group Series 310 vs RealPresence Group Series 500

Slide notes
Finally we'll compare the RealPresence Group Series 310 with the next model up, the
RealPresence Group Series 500. This will give you an idea of the limitations and enable correct
positioning with your customers.

Though there are two monitor outputs on the RealPresence Group Series 310, only one is
enabled out of the box. The second monitor output is only activated after the purchase of an
optional license key. In contrast, the RealPresence Group Series 500 has both monitor outputs
activated out of the box.

The RealPresence Group Series 500 can support up to a 6Mbps call rate, as opposed to the
3Mbps call rate supported by the RealPresence Group Series 310. Additionally, 6-way
multipoint is available as an optional addition for RealPresence Group Series 500, whereas the
RealPresence Group Series 310 does not.

There may also be new audio and video innovations which are only available on the
RealPresence Group Series 500 and 700 models moving forward.
