I am writing this letter in recommendation of Hannah Walker for Secondary English Education positions in middle and high
schools. I was Hannah’s Secondary Education Supervisor and practicum teacher at Kutztown University in Fall 2021 and
her instructor in her Methods of Teaching class in Spring 2021. On December 18, 2021, Hannah graduated with a BS in
Secondary English Education after successfully completing our Teacher Preparedness Program.

Hannah is a natural and outstanding educator and has performed extremely well in her 9th and 12th grade student teaching
placement at Fleetwood Area High School. I had the pleasure of observing her teaching six times between September and
December and saw her teach Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Beowulf, book reports, Greek mythology, argumentative
writing, Greek mythology, and Star Wars, and taught honors 9th grade ELA and 12th grade AP ELA. Her content knowledge
was extensive and benefitted her instruction in these challenging levels of English education.

Hannah brings great enthusiasm and solid planning to every lesson, including attention to students with individual needs and
abilities; she is flexible and adapts readily to new situations and implements new, fair, ethical, and innovative ideas in the
classroom (in all areas of ELA instruction). Hannah integrates differentiated activities and assessments to best serve her
students’ needs, considering all of her students and potential, beneficial accommodations. She has shown incredible
adaptivity, technological knowledge, the encouragement of multimodality, and skill in teaching students. I awarded Hannah
the Outstanding Student Teacher Candidate Award for her excellent work at Fleetwood Area High School in Fall 2021 for
both placements and see her as one of the strongest student teachers whom I have supervised since 2010 while teaching and
mentoring/ supervising student teachers at Kutztown University.

Within her student teaching and as a student in one of my former teaching methodology classes (in which she received an
A), Hannah has proven herself to be hard-working, committed to learning, and extremely knowledgeable with content and
the successful application of pedagogy. In my Teaching of Methods class, she was also present, prepared, and always able
to connect all that we were discussing in our class to her future as a secondary English educator and to the academic world
at large.

Hannah truly deserves recognition and would benefit your school district and its students. She has proven herself to be a
knowledgeable and outstanding educator who puts her students first and implements current best practices in the classroom.
