Issues in implementing Distance and Alternative Delivery Systems

The demand for education is growing in both academic and industrial scenarios. while
student numbers still grow, there's pressure to scale back overall cost. there is also
demand for flexibility to include lifelong learning into day-to-day life. These factors,
combined with availability of powerful communication tools and computer systems, has
fostered investigation, and resulted in implementation of latest teaching and learning
methods. Distance learning and its relationship to emerging computer technologies
have together offered many promises to the sphere of education. In practice however,
the mixture often falls wanting what it attempts to accomplish. a number of the
shortcomings are because of problems with the technology; others have more to try with
administration, instructional methods, or students. Despite the guarantees and obvious
advantages to distance learning, there are problems that require to be resolved. These
problems include the standard of instruction, hidden costs, misuse of technology, and
the attitudes of instructors, students, and administrators. every one of those influences
the general quality of distance learning as a product. In some ways, each of those
issues relates to the others. we are going to examine each of those issues separately.
the primary issue is that the quality of instruction that's given through distance learning
programs. Some learners don't seem to be capable of getting a self-study and fast-
paced learning wherein the standard might compromise. this is often also one in all the
main factor to be considered due to different learning capabilities of scholars. Not all

In teachers’ part, guidelines in teaching skills can even be raised as an extra concern.
Educators handling ADM students must be equipped and trained. Mentally, physically,
and spiritually. Start from the various approaches on the way to adopt different
personalities which will test their patience and eagerness to continue their noble
profession. Next, introduction of various modalities they are going to use, if they will be
using purely online or other tools and platform appropriate to their learning abilities and
individual social and private concerns. The delivery of instruction must always be clear
and understand how to use different methods in having an interaction and feedback to
his or her students as a part of the assessment. ADM teachers and facilitator’s lessons
should stressing it more towards the sensible and application relevancies.

Distance learning is that the new rage within the world of education. Valuable because it
is, distance learning continues to be nothing quite a brand-new use of familiar machine.
And machines, regardless of how good, do not run themselves. People run machines.
(Kofahi, 2000) There are some exceptional situations, in certain places, where distance
learning courses are still under-valued compared to the regular university courses,
