(September 18, 2017)
Learning Competency/ies:
(30) Describe the various hazards that may happen in the event of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and
landslides
(31) Using hazard maps, identify areas prone to hazards brought about by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and
landslides
(32) Give practical ways of coping with geological hazards caused by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and
landslides
(33) Identify human activities that speed up or trigger landslides
(34) Suggest ways to help lessen the occurrence of landslides in your community
(35) Describe the various hazards that may happen in the wake of tropical cyclones, monsoons, flood, or ipo –
ipo
(36) Using hazard maps, identify areas prone to hazards brought about by tropical cyclones, monsoons, floods,
or ipo - ipo
(37) Give practical ways of coping with hydrometeorological hazards caused by tropical cyclones, monsoons,
floods, or ipo-ipo

4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory Activity ( mins)
Review the previous lesson.
4.2 Activity or Strategy ( mins)
Show them pictures of Natural hazards / disasters. One each for geological and hydrometeorological hazards.

Motive questions:

 What can you see in the pictures?

 Are these hazards common to our country?
 Have you experienced this particular hazard?
 What did you feel the moment you this hazard / disaster was occurring?
4.3 Analysis ( mins)
Ask them the following questions:
 Are these hazards the same or different?
 What has caused this hazards?
 How can you classify these two hazards?
4.4 Abstraction ( mins)
Discuss about the geologic process and hazards. Specifically discuss the following:
 Earthquakes
 Volcanic eruptions
 Landslides
 What to do during these disasters.
 What measure can we use to mitigate these disasters?

Discuss about the Hydrometeorological phenomena and hazards. Specifically discuss the following:
 Tropical cyclones
 Monsoons
 Floods
 Tornadoes / ipo-ipo
 What to do during these disasters.
 What measure can we use to mitigate these disasters?
4.5 Application ( mins)

Show them a picture of recent natural geologic and hydrometeorological disasters.

Motive question:
“Did humans play a role in the occurrence of these disasters?”
4.6 Assessment ( mins)
Assessment Methods
a. Observation

b. Talking to learners / Conferencing

Ask questions about the following:
 geologic processes and hazard
 Hydrometeorological phenomena and hazards
c. Analysis of Learners’ Products

d. Tests

4.6 Assignment ( min)

Reinforcing / Strengthening of day’s lesson
In a 1 whole sheet of paper. Let the student recall a recent experience involving a geologic and a
hydrometeorological hazard. They must write what they have done wrong during that time and how will they
correct that mistake.
Enriching / inspiring the day’s lesson

Enhancing / improving the day’s lesson

Preparing for the new lesson

4.8. Warm up or concluding Activity ( 2 min)

Reflect on the following:

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”

5. Remarks

6. Reflections
A. No of learners who eared 80% in the evaluation

B. No of learners who require additional activities for remediation

C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. Of learners who have caught up with the lesson.

D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation.

E. Which of my learning strategies worked well? Why did these work?

F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisors can help me solve

G. What innovation or localized materials did I use / discover which I wish to share with other teachers
